Greek Mechanical Owl by Thin Man, Sloop, and Seven Island Brewery: Thin Man, Sloop, and Seven Island Style: IPA ABV: 7% Beer God’s Notes Original Tasting Notes:  Greek Mechanical Owl by @thinmanbrewery @sloopbrewingco @sevenislandbrewery – this is really tasty. Nice smooth finish with a slight hop burn (nothing aggressive) This was really nice, I’m glad that I picked up a 4-pack of it. I might go back and get another one because I already love Thin Man’s IPAs but this one was one of those surprises that I wasn’t expecting. I know what most of their IPAs are going to t ..read more

Dankful IPA by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

Dankful IPA by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Brewery: Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Style: IPA ABV: 7.4% IBUs: 55 Beer God’s Notes Original Tasting Notes:  none This was less aggressively “dank” than I expected it to be, but I think I went into it with more of an assumption than I probably should have. The name had me expecting Stone Ruination levels of “dank” but it was more muted than that. At 55 IBUs, that makes sense as well – since Ruination was 100+, this is much more approachable. Now, with that said, this was still a tasty-as-hell IPA with some nice west-coast vibes to it in an IPA scene ..read more

Mocha, The Whale by Community Beer Works (Buffalo, NY) Brewery: Community Beer Works Style: Brown Ale with Vanilla, Coffee, and Chocolate ABV: 5.9% Beer God’s Notes Original Tasting Notes:  Watching the snow and cracking into my Mocha, The Whale – brown ale with vanilla, coffee, and chocolate @communitybeer Not much in the tasting notes there (since I just take them from my Instagram posts) but this was a really enjoyable version of The Whale. The vanilla and coffee notes were really nice and honestly tasted a lot like the coffee that I usually make in the morning. Since it’s under 6% it ..read more

Tin Whiskers Brewery | St. Paul, MN Beer Good’s Notes I’ve been following these guys on Instagram since before they opened.  They were one of the first breweries I interacted with as Brian Beer God.  It’s been at least 5 years (if not longer) and I was finally able to get there. The place was wide open and utilized their space as well as they could.  You walked into a place with wide open tables and open feel and you could see the brewing equipment behind the bar. It was a bit warm in there (probably had some AC but it was SUPER hot out and they appeared to be brewing while we were there ..read more

Dangerous Man Brewing Co. Minneapolis, MN Beer God’s Notes I was told to come here by someone from Duluth and also a close friend – so I went into the place with high hopes.  We visited mid-week at a slight off-hour and the place was busy but not overly so. I’ve been told (and could tell by the crowd that was there) that the place fills up after work and especially on weekends. We picked a spot at the bar and sat down.  We were instantly greeted by multiple bartenders with smiles on their faces.  Dad and I looked up at the menu and saw that there was quite a bit of beer for him and for me ..read more

Lush Double IPA by Frost Beer Works Style: Double IPA ABV: 8% Beer God’s Notes Original Tasting Notes:  I was too shocked by Junior and then this to take an actual note when originally posting. Well, well, well.  This is also fantastic.  I took a total swing on both of the beers I picked up from Frost and I’m glad that I did.  Junior followed by Lush were both great.  This one had a lovely sweetness to it without being overly bitey.  Lush had that lusciousness that I love from a NEIPA and a nice juicy hop burst to it as well. Description A double IPA with luxuriant aromatics and succulent fl ..read more

Junior by Frost Beer Works Brewery: Frost Beer Works Style: IPA ABV: 6% Beer God’s Notes Original Tasting Notes:  This is fucking fantastic. I can’t wait to try the double. This was so juicy and delightful.  It really had a nice flavor to it that I couldn’t put my finger on.  Now reading the description from Frost and I see stonefruit.  I always end up looking that up when I see it because it’s a flavor that I really enjoy in beer and I always want other beers like it. Stone Fruit – a fruit with flesh or pulp enclosing a stone, such as a peach, plum, or cherry. Overall, this was my first bee ..read more

My Thoughts: So, this is awesome. The exclusive decals on the entire thing really make this unit stand out. Seriously, I have it kind of tucked away in my office/man cave and every person that walked by noticed it and asked me about it. I kind of wish I had someone better to show it off. The light on the top is great (unless you have a beer right under it). My only major complaint about the light is that it’s all or nothing. You either have it on all the time or off all the time (no door sensor). While there is nothing wrong with that (and it’s super easy to turn on with a switc ..read more

Mysterious Haze DDH NEIPA by Smuttynose Brewing Co.

Brewery: Smuttynose Brewing Co. Style: DDH NE IPA ABV: 6.7% Beer God’s Notes: I’m genuinely shocked by their new branding for it. But I like it. The beer was okay. I would consider it to be more of a Hazy IPA than a NEIPA. Overall, a little light on the typical smoothness and mouthfeel but still easy drinking. Description: Mysterious Haze is a New England style IPA that is medium bodied and double dry hopped. It explores every facet of Citra hops; the grapefruit, guava, mango notes all shine through while the aftertaste leaves hints of citrus and delicate herbs. This NEIP ..read more

Write Drunk Edit Sober by Fat Orange Cat Brew Co. Brewery: Fat Orange Cat Brew Co. Style: NE IPA ABV: 7.2% Beer God’s Notes: This was incredibly soft and smooth. Also, the aroma coming off of this after I poured it was to die for. It went down really nice and had a mixture of citrus and a little hint of resinous pine. Description: Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops. Enjoy the #pourvideo I made as well: The post Write Drunk Edit Sober by Fat Orange Cat Brew Co. appeared first on Beer God Blog ..read more
