My history with dry skin brushing goes back to 2016 when I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. I had started to follow fellow Lyme Warriors on social media and one of the people I followed posted about how much they loved dry skin brushing. It sparked my interest- what the heck was she talking about? I needed to find out and found myself looking online at different resources to learn about how to do it and the benefits associated with dry brushing.
When it comes to my health, I research everything before I do it – but I am always willing to try something that can’t hurt me – I d ..read more

Well, I am five days into therapies at a clinic that is a lot more local… a four hour drive away. So compared to crossing the Atlantic? It’s just a hop, skip and a jump. Plus I went to school here. I have friends and family here, and they are all just a phone call away.
So first, addressing the question:
“Did you abandon the Paracelsus treatments?”
Nope. Not at all. If you remember reading any blogs about Paracelsus you may remember that there are some IV therapies I can’t bring home from the Clinic, and some I just can’t do at home locally (like ..read more

At this point there are probably close to, if not more than 10 blogs about my journey with Paracelsus, including my decision to go and the daily diaries from my three visits. In this final post, you’ll read about my last few days of my third and final trip to the clinic.
Thursday May 2, 2020 – Day 7
Today is my last full day at the clinic. My morning started with the final appointment with my regular doctor. My priority was infusion sets. I wanted to ensure I would be getting enough for home, especially if it takes two months for them to be processed through Canadian Customs ..read more

I recently did a radio interview about food and nutrition during the pandemic. As I prepared for it, I realized I had a lot more that I wanted to say. The topics we covered during the interview were great; but I felt like there was so much more to say about each one. Of course, when it comes to the radio, we only have so much time – so I really had to narrow down my key message for each topic, and while it is great to be concise, I felt like the rest of the information needed to be heard.
If you’re looking for more about how to stay safe during the pandemic, especially when ..read more

The timing of this really couldn’t be more fitting, although when Shantiva reached out to me about their copper water pitchers, the COVID pandemic had yet to hit North America. At that point, I was still super interested in their products, but I have to be honest:
I didn’t realize copper drinkware has been around a lot longer than just for serving the ever-popular drink, The Moscow Mule.
Copper water vessels are rooted in Ayurveda, which I’m not very well acquainted with so I found learning about this history of the use of copper water vessels pretty interesting, and the Shantiva w ..read more

As I was drafting my post about recipes that include shelf stable foods, I started to think of a lot of other things I wanted to tell you guys, so I ended up creating this post.
There are a lot of ways we can make our foods last longer and I wanted to share those with you as well as some tips for choosing healthier canned and frozen items at the grocery store.
Canned Foods
Choose options that have no or low salt, as much as possible pick the ones canned in water
Thoroughly rinse all beans, lentils, veggies and fruits under cold water in a colander
Dried Foods
These are generally the mo ..read more

Unprecedented
How many times have we heard that word lately? A lot. Life is stressful right now, and I totally get that. I feel you, and I want to help.
First, let me remind you that while we’re facing this pandemic the most important thing isn’t making big, fancy, uber-healthy meals. It is okay if you only managed a peanut butter sandwich for lunch yesterday. A couple days ago our power went out… I was shocked to see an unplanned power outage, especially in the middle of a pandemic. But, I mean – really – anything can happen. That morning my breakfast involved peeling a banana and o ..read more

Thanks for tuning back into my story. I know my lack of regular posting makes it hard to follow along and remember what happened last… but I truly appreciate you coming along for the ride. And if you’re just tuning in? Thanks for being here! Perhaps you found my site in search of answers during your own, or loved one’s Lyme Disease journey? I genuinely hope you find this blog helpful.
To recap:
It took two years after the bite to be diagnosed; you can click here to read that blog. Next, I spent roughly a year and a half with an Infectious Disease Specialist in Washington, DC – there a ..read more

First, let us talk about travelling to Switzerland for the third time in 15 months for Lyme Disease treatment. And I sure as heck don’t mean to sound like a snobby, ungrateful brat. First, travelling when your unwell just absolutely sucks- for anyone who’s experienced it; you know what I mean. Second, travelling because your seeking medical care and paying $20-50K a visit is a bitter pill to swallow. Literally. Some meds I take once I get home from the clinic taste like they’ve been soaked in Javex and coated in ArmorAll.
There also is a hell of a lot to be grateful for in travelling here f ..read more

Writing this post brings back memories of my days (which were now long ago enough I don’t want to tell you how many years its been) of being in University; lap top balanced on my knee while I work to meet a deadline. To be fair, I actually finished assignments ahead of time. I’m not a procrastinator. Nothing has changed in that sense, but my health – or lately – lack-there-of, has indeed changed and forces me to put off anything that is non-essential.
I wanted to publish this post weeks ago. The main goal was to post it before I go back to Switzerland to my Clinic.
