Are Projectors for Sewing?

They can be! I had the pleasure of testing out the Vankyo Leisure 470 Projector, and I’d like to tell you all about it. This is a sponsored review, so I will keep it real cause that’s what we do on this channel. My first thought about using a projector is that I would only use it on small sewing projects. I would not use it to sew full garments. The idea is to use the projector to mirror the PDF pattern onto the fabric. This would eliminate the need to cut out pattern pieces and pin them to the fabric for cutting. The machine is sleek with all the accessories, including cord ..read more

Mori wearing the Ankara DIY maxi skirt If you’ve been following me on IG, you know that I created this chevron maxi using four different gingham prints. If you didn't get a chance to view this fabulous skirt here it is. A gingham chevron maxi skirt I decided for this issue to use this same method but with Ankara prints. I cut out my pattern pieces based on the limited yardage I had on hand. I used 5 different prints and I only had about 1½ yards of each. I had to match a few of the larger prints in each panel. It was a little tricky, but it all worked out. If you ar ..read more

DIY Jean inspired tie-front top Idon’t know about you, but I live in denim jackets all year round. In fact, if I could wear denim all the time I would but my workplace only calls for jeans on casual Fridays. Anytime that I can inject the jeans look into a project I will. I originally modified this pattern for this dance top above and that’s how I came up with this idea. Now before you say this top isn’t for you, let me say that you can apply this hack to any top! The pattern I used was the Diva Patterns Copeland Cardi (ballet wrap), which is meant to be worn over a tank top or dance ..read more

My #1 Shopping Bag: A DIY Tote

I love this new shopping tote! Let me tell you how this new tote came to be. My local fabric store decided that they were going green, which meant that they were no longer using plastic bags. They started selling shopping bags and large paper bags to those of us that didn't bring our own bags and didn't want to carry the fabric in our hands.  Now I don't go to this store that often but I have gone there 2 other times and each time I had forgotten to bring my own bags. Well after this last time I said I need to get a tote to keep in my car, just for my random trips to this store. I sea ..read more

MORI WEARING A DIY BURBERRY INSPIRED MONOGRAMMED PONCHO This story starts out with a Poncho that was impressive from the moment I saw this in the Burberry Fashion show back in 2014. There were celebrity sightings all over the streets in this poncho. This is my DIY version of that exclusive monogrammed poncho, minus the not-so-budget friendly price-tag that goes along with the brand. Fall and winter fabrics are hitting the stores in full force right now and when I ran into this print at my local fabric store, I knew it would work well for this project. The fabric is a polyester, rayon b ..read more
