Purcell Cup – Old Wesley 9 Greystones 20 Old Wesley Under 20s were unable to win the Purcell Cup as they lost out to Greystones in a lack luster final.  Greystones deserved their victory looking the better side for much of the match. Old Wesley were guilty of a large number of handling errors and their line out struggled to claim authority.  Old Wesley’s scores were limited to three penalty goals by Jonny Cazzini. Moran Cup Final  –  Old Wesley 31 Railway Union 17  –  19th April 2024 Old Wesley beat Railway Union in the final of Moran Cup making it the 6th time that Old Wesley has won this trophy. Railway looked the stronger side in the opening quarter taking a 3 nil lead. Wesley then started to find some gaps and two late first half tries by Stephen Keane and Dan Hall, converted by Adam Colbert earned them a 14-3 lead going into half time.  Second half tries by Luke Fitzpatrick and team captain, Gary Hawe made it 26-3.  The opposition then pulled back two converted tries b ..read more

This weekend is a huge weekend for Old Wesley with 3 teams playing in finals or semi-finals, all at Donnybrook. On Friday night the 4ths (Colts) take on Railway Union in the final of the Moran Cup. Kick off is at 8pm.  Old Wesley has won this cup on five previous occasions and will be hoping to make it the half dozen on the night. Saturday is the biggest game of the year for the Seniors who take on Garryowen in the AIL 1B Promotion Semi-final. Our De La Wes Under 14 Girls squad travelled the short distance to play against a combined team of Old Belvo and Wanderers.  The squad was almost at full strength only missing Grace, Isabella and Mia and we welcomed back Cate for her first competitive match since November. Throughout the match the girls were able to create and manage line breaks, numerous phases and set plays in order to keep the opposition on the toes, crossing the whitewash four time (unfortunately one being held up).  Georgie gained the most metres in the match and was chomping at the bit for a try, sadly it elude ..read more

It’s been 5 years since the u20s were in a Purcell Cup final and revenge took place late on Friday evening after 100 minutes of rugby when this years u20s defeated a very strong St Marys team to advance to the final of the Purcell Cup. The teams were level at 17- 17 at full time, and just long enough for the Colts players and supporters to return from their League Final and see the extra time of this game, and thankfully the win after an extra time try from Zach Furlong scoring under the posts and Jonny Cazzini scoring the conversion to leave the final score of 24-17. Metro 4 Final – Lansdowne 21 Old Wesley 7  – 4th April 2024 In Old Wesley’s first junior final of the year the 4ths, aka The Colts, lost out to Lansdowne.  Lansdowne struck early with two tries to lead 14 nil at half time.  They extended the score to 21 before Old Wesley finally crossed for a late try by Dan Hall, converted by Gary Hawe.
