Fred Trussell – RIP
Ampthill Rugby
by Kevin Miller

It is with great sadness that the club must report the passing of Fred Trussell on Thursday 9th May. Fred played his rugby at Colmworth House, his works team initially before transferring to Ampthill. He played fly half and became vice captain of the Extras under Roy Duffin. Fred’s warm personality and dry sense of humour was most welcoming to many of the U.S. Servicemen based at Chicksands during that era. Most of the young Americans were experiencing rugby for the first time, with many of them ditching their ‘Buds’ for ..read more

A lot of the great games we’ve had with Ampthill have gone down to the last few minutes so we’re glad come out on the right side of it”. The Mob scored the opening try of the match after just 3 minutes. A brilliant pass from Brandon Jackson set To ..read more

The Mob welcome old friends Hartpury University to The Olney Field in their final home game of the 2023-24 Championship season with Head Coach Paul Turner demanding “a big performance” from his squad. “We let ourselves down last Saturday” said Turner, “we’d put together a run of performances and went into that game with the wrong mentality. We’ve had a good look at ourselves and each other this week. We want to finish the season on a high but Hartpury are always tough opponents with a very good set piece and we’ll need to win all of our individual battles to get the result we want” Turner make ..read more
