Smashing your instrument is a Western rock n’ roll tradition since the 1960s. In India? Not so much. Dickey Betts, co-founding guitarist and vocalist of The Allman Brothers Band (who wrote and sung such classics as “Ramblin’ Man” and “Blue Sky”), has died at 80. An announcement on his Instagram reads: It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Betts family announce the peaceful passing of Forrest Richard ‘Dickey’ Betts (December 12, 1943 – April 18, 2024) at the age of 80 years old. Back in 2022, The Lemonheads went out on tour with Jawbreaker as part of a 30th anniversary celebration of It’s a Shame About Ray. After a couple shows, though, The Lemonheads were dropped from Jawbreaker’s shows. Jawbreaker only wrote that The Lemonheads wouldn’t joining them on East Coast shows and that The Get Up Kids would be replacing them, but Evan Dando hit back, writing at the time, “I just want anyone anyone and everyone to know that Jawbreaker are pussies.
