I’m looking to make a lined dress in a light polyester fabric. It’s a long dress with a bias cut skirt and I have one bed sheet (polyester) to make a mock-up.
Would it be alright if I left the skirt part unlined? Or is it best practice to fully line all muslins?

Hello everyone! I posted a few days ago about learning how to sew and starting my very first big project, a sewing machine dust cover. Well I finished it! Quite a few people wanted me to post when I finished so here it is! I screwed up a little bit on the seam allowances so I couldn't finish the inside seams but I'm very proud of the outside! I learned so many new skills with this project and definitely exceeded my own expectations of myself!
Here's a link to the video I followed to make it. https://youtu.be/wL3AdxD_q1c?si=UG6FEkNnX_tvI4U1

Figured I'd share some creations of this lesser known industry. All photos supplied by clients. I primarily make the bodies, and the paws. I'm the 4th generation of seamstresses in my family, and this is what I get to make with my skills. I love my job, and I'm so lucky to meet such wonderful clients around the world.

Looking for a new serger (I have an old Elna which I was never happy with - too finicky in terms of adjusting tension, etc and its now seized up).
The Bernette b48 has overlock and coverstitch for a bit more than the Juki MO114. The addition of coverstitch on 1 machine is a big plus but I'm curious about which is the better machine in terms of ease of use (tension and differential feed adjustments) when changing fabric types & weights and stitch quality. I had rather opt for quality over more features and I'm kinda torn as which is the "smarter" buy.

How could/would I recreate something this? Are the knit pieces handmade or just cut out from a preexisting fabric? Could a beginner make this?

Hi! i’m pretty new to sewing and want to tried making a tiered skirt out of this beautiful fabric. However, i’m not sure how to do that given it has 4 way stretch and is quite see through.
I was thinking of sewing a non stretch panel on to each of the stretch panels as a sort of lining but wasn’t sure if that would work.
Any advice? :)

I am an intermediate pattern drafter, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out what this is called or how this was done (let alone how it was pressed!), but I’d like to make a dress with sleeves in this style
