“We’re only as good as our ability to connect with each other. Everything else is irrelevant.” - Jane Chapman-Holt   I grew up in a mining village in Nottingham. I had a great childhood, I felt love everyday and my belly was never empty. During the summer holidays, I’d be gone from my house for 10 hours at a time. My pals and I would walk 5 miles to places like Hardwick Hall. We’d take a packed lunch and a flask of water and be on our way. My mum used to say, “Come back before it gets dark,” and I was off. Strong bonds were tied on those long walks, secrets shared and days were filled wi ..read more

Soften, Soothe, and Sing...A Message to my Heart

Start with the breath. The breath is our anchor to the self. The constant cycle of energy that flows through us. By really connecting with this energy, you are able to be fully present in the posture and begin to create subtle shifts in our physical bodies and mindset.   - Malin Bray   Our heart space. The Anahata. Vast and vulnerable. Wise and precious. Our energetic anchor. We feel the gentle crisp in the air, the coziness of fall drawing us inwards. Just as the Earth changes her seasons, we as humans must honor our own cycles. It seems simple enough, but I feel so often that we g ..read more

Longwaveyoga

"This posture for me is a return to your center. When I’m in balasana, I feel like my body is a cocoon around my heart, all my limbs connect to the Earth and I can just let gravity cradle me. When I’m that close to my mat, it creates almost an echo of breath and heart beat, bringing me back to myself. "   - Malin Bray, Longwave Yoga October 2020 Teacher of the Month   Step-by-Step Instructions: Kneel on the floor. Touch your big toes together and sit on your heels, then separate your knees about as wide as your hips. Exhale and lay your torso down between your thighs. Broaden your ..read more

KITCHARI DUMPLINGS Serves 2   These recipes evolved as playful ways to renew and refresh leftovers, and can probably be applied to any rice and bean, or bean and veg dish. There are numerous of specifically Kitchari recipes on this blog, and 4 in my book. But really any one of your favorites will do. Once your kitchari is made, this is 10 minute cooking at best.   Also please note that these dumplings are delicate. If you want to make them firmer add a tablespoon of psyllium when you stir in the flaxseed.   INGREDIENTS 1 cup kitchari 2 tablespoons flax seed About 1/4 ..read more

Rooting Yourself in Love

"There is no better time to start loving yourself than right now. No person is simply the sum of their failures or accomplishments; we are all a magically unique combination of characteristics, experiences, personality traits, and we all deserve to be loved. If we love ourselves first and work from a place of self reflection and compassion to cultivate that love, we will have more than enough to nourish ourselves, to share with others, to go forth into the world and create, empower, appreciate, and become." - Wendi Epps   “You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is ..read more
