The majority of Texas grapes are grown in the Texas High Plains. For those vineyards that have been supplying grapes to wineries for many years, those vineyard names become as well known as the wineries who are making the wines. One of those vineyards is Canada Family Vineyard located in Plains, one of the westernmost towns in Texas with vineyards. The vineyard is a true family vineyard owned by Dwayne and Brenda Canada, and their son and his family – Daniel and wife Christy with sons Garner and Grey. Brenda Canada took the time to supply us with Canada Family Vineyard’s Grower Profile! L-R ..read more

Thankfully, the needs of all comers have been met thanks to the rise of the ready-to-eat meal delivery business model, and a raft of d ..read more

O’Farrell Country Vineyards: Native Wines from Native Vines
Texas Wine Lover

Tucked away in Deep East Texas amongst the beautiful pine-covered hills near Atlanta, my wife and I arrived at O’Farrell Country Vineyards. We were excited about this winery visit that will allow us a first-time opportunity to learn about the process of growing and producing unique wines from Muscadine grapes and area fresh fruits. O’Farrell Country Vineyards began in 2006 when Benny Moore and his dad (Papa) planted Muscadine vines for a U-Pick operation that opened in 2008. The Winery opened in 2011. Before all of this, Benny and his wife Judy had a great 20-year career in the Air Force foll ..read more

Have you ever wondered what recording a podcast episode is like, especially one that is being recorded at one of your favorite places…a winery? Yeah, me too! I recently had the pleasure of watching Will Donohue and Michel Woods of We Know Texas Vino as they recorded their 58th podcast episode, and let me tell you it was a fun experience. Knowing the area that I live in, Will reached out to see if I would be interested in joining them at Bar Ditch Winery where they would soon be recording an episode. Not being one to turn down the opportunity to hit the wine road, I jumped at the chance. I’m n ..read more

They accomplish that mission by educating consumers about Texas wine and the importance of truth in labeling. They offered memberships to Wineries who also agree in their mission of making wines solely from Texas grapes. Texas Wine Lover has had a list of wineries that make all their wines with only 100% Texas grapes since 2020. When the website redesign and mobile app happened in December 20 ..read more

Two Brothers Winery is located in Keller which is a short drive north of Fort Worth. The winery is family-owned and operated by two brothers, Brian and Eddie Kirkwood, and their spouses, Stephanie and Donna. The winery opened in 2019. On a recent North Texas trip, I made a point to visit Two Brothers Winery during the week. The winery is open until late evening, but since I arrived in the afternoon, the regular wine crowd had not started to come yet. This made it convenient to enjoy a wine flight and learn about Two Brothers Winery. I settled in at the tasting bar and perused the large two-s ..read more
