People are losing their minds over Luma’s Dream Machine AI video maker

As intrigued as we were by OpenAI's Sora text-to-video AI model, we couldn't actually try it out ourselves. That's not the case for Luma's new Dream Machine video generator, which debuted this week and is currently available for anyone to test out. As Luma explains on its blog, Dream Machine was built on "a scalable, efficient, and multimodal transformer architecture" and trained on videos. You can provide Luma's Dream Machine with a text prompt along with an image to generate videos, which Luma claims will feature "physically accurate, consistent and action-packed scenes." https://www.youtub ..read more

Samsung will reportedly launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 next month. It could be just in time to promote the new foldables during the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The increasing frequency and variety of leaks seem to support those rumors. Most of Samsung's secrets for a new generation of Galaxy flagships leak well before the Unpacked press release. The newest Galaxy Z Fold 6 leak concerns the foldable's price, and it's not good news. Apparently, the handset might be more expensive than last year. That's certainly an unusual development, considering that Samsung has to face better compe ..read more

iOS 18 was previewed during the WWDC 2024 keynote early in June. The huge update's release date is expected to coincide with the iPhone 16 announcement in September. But not every announced feature will come with version 18.0, as some might be delayed until iOS 18.1, 18.2, or even later. That said, these are 10 upcoming iOS 18 delayed features that won't be available when the update is first released this fall. An all-new Mail experience: Later this year, Maill will get a redesign with on-device categorization to organize your messages and help you stay up to date across all your account ..read more

How to lock iPhone apps with Face ID in iOS 18
BGR Tech
by Chris Smith

One of the reasons I installed the iOS 18 beta 1 as soon as it was available for the iPhone is the ability to lock apps with Face ID. I've been waiting for this feature for years. I think it's a must-have on iPhones, especially if you share your device with others, particularly children. iPadOS 18 will also let you lock apps with Face ID. That's even better, considering that you're more likely to share your tablet with others. Back to the iPhone's ability to lock apps, I can think of several apps that need protection. Messages, Notes, Phone, Photos, Wallet, App Store, Mail, and Calendar are s ..read more

Among the new features, Apple has added several functions to the Notes app, now more powerful than ever. In this article, we're detailing everything new in the Notes app on iOS 18. Live audio transcription: In iOS 18, Notes app users can record an audio session within a note and generate live audio transcriptions that can be searched through or combined with other comments, checklists, or documents. Apple says this feature will be available on iPhone 12 and later in English (Australia), Eng ..read more

Forget AI, I want my iPhone to steal this must-have feature from Android

Now that Apple is taking more cues from Android—the addition of a customizable home screen and a few other features coming to iOS 18 have been available in Android for years now—it’s time for the company to look at other features it can nick, and I’ve got the perfect one: I’d love to see reverse phone number lookup on iPhone. Spam calls are a huge problem in this day and age, and being able to look up phone numbers quickly and easily is a huge boon. This is something Google is leaning heavily into with a newly released feature on the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a. I know we’re only into ..read more

The best new macOS Sequoia feature won’t be available at launch
BGR Tech
by José Adorno

macOS Sequoia is Apple's upcoming software update for Mac users. While it's full of great features, the one I was most excited to try won't launch until "later this year." That means it might be included in macOS 15.1 in October, or maybe not until macOS 15.2 in late December. During its preview at the WWDC 2024 keynote, Apple added a new continuity feature for macOS Sequoia, which allows you to use your iPhone from your Mac. The iPhone Mirroring feature lets you fully interact with your iPhone and its apps wirelessly, using your Mac keyboard, trackpad, or mouse. When the iPhone is connected ..read more

Apple isn’t paying for ChatGPT in iOS 18, even though OpenAI can’t save your data
BGR Tech

Apple built ChatGPT support into Apple Intelligence, as expected. You'll be able to access ChatGPT's GPT-4o model in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 as long as your iPhone, iPad, and Mac can support Apple's AI. But you'll have to wait a few more months for the Apple Intelligence beta, as it's not available in the first iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 betas. One thing you won't have to worry about when using ChatGPT is paying for it. Access to GPT-4o comes free of charge, something that Apple confirmed during the WWDC keynote earlier this week. But it turns out that even Apple won't pay OpenAI ..read more

I am irrationally excited about the Reminders and Calendar integration in iOS 18
BGR Tech

I'm a pretty simple man. I don't ask for much (don't look at all of the rest of my opinion pieces). However, there's one thing that Apple's Calendar and Reminders apps haven't had that I've been waiting for them to add, and, holy moly, in iOS 18, they finally did it. If you have an iPhone, iPad, or Mac and use the Calendars and Reminders apps from Apple, you know that they aren't anything fancy. You can go all out and get more feature-rich calendar and reminder/task apps from Google, Microsoft, and a host of third-party developers. Me? I personally like the more simplistic nature of Apple's b ..read more
