Fit To Be Pregnant

Many of you have been around since my very early days as a “fit pregnancy” blogger, when I branched off from helping to run my husband’s brand Coach Calorie to develop my own business. Chances are, you were one of the 5+ million visitors to this blog, Fit To Be Pregnant, and found me while searching for healthy meals for pregnancy or used my breastfeeding calorie calculator. Since that time back in 2013, my business has evolved from fit pregnancy and postpartum fat loss towards helping all moms have a healthy relationship with food and their bodies, allowing them to practi ..read more

How are you feeling right now in the light of what’s going on in the world? I’ve been all over the map, so I thought this would be a good time to write you and let you know what has been helping me. This has been the evolution of my thoughts on Coronavirus, as someone who is highly anxious by nature: I’m not even going to pay attention to this virus Wait, should I be worried? Are we all going to die? It’s like the flu. I’m just gonna live my life and avoid the news. Everything is closing….what is going on??? OK. I’m safe, my kids are safe, but it’s my duty to stay home. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ..read more

Are you a victim of diet culture if you want to lose weight?
Fit To Be Pregnant

ARE YOU A VICTIM OF DIET CULTURE IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? There are two very opposite extreme movements out there that have had my head spinning lately: First, there is the “traditional” fitness and diet industry which makes us believe that our only goal in life should be to get smaller, and that extreme rules, diets, and workouts that sacrifice our psychological health are the answer to our discomfort with our post-baby bodies. NO THANKS. BUT….on the other hand, there is a new movement swinging to the opposite extreme that is anti-diet industry and well-intended, but to me, is also missing ..read more

Happy 2020! How did you spend the new year? I have a very specific ritual I use at the end of a year/beginning of a new one. I wanted to share it with you: My yearly New Year’s Ritual Step 1 – What went right in 2019? List out everything you accomplished, everything that went right – you might be shocked (I was!) at how awesome the year really was and how much you moved the needle! You’ll also realize how much you are capable of! Step 2 – What lessons did you learn this year? Writing them down really helps you gain perspective on what’s important as you plan the upcoming year. Step 3 – What wi ..read more

100 ways to practice self-care over the holidays
Fit To Be Pregnant

I absolutely love this time of year and I’m sure you do too. Visiting with our loved ones, the traditions, the sights, the tastes, the smells – it’s pretty magical. Aaaand as motherhood tends to be, the holidays can feel simultaneously magical and equally stressful on us. Whether we are hosting or traveling to see our families, our responsibilities can cause us an enormous amount of exhaustion. The grocery shopping, the cooking, the driving with little monkeys in the backseat bored out of their minds who need to pee every other mile, the packing for ourselves AND the ridiculous amount of thing ..read more

Why I hate “No Excuses” for moms
Fit To Be Pregnant
by Deanna Schober

If you’re follow any of the traditional fitness and diet gurus on social media, then you’re probably familiar with the supposed-to-be-inspirational phrase, “No excuses”. Raise your hand if someone saying this has ever made you feel like sh*t about yourself. (*sea of hands raised*) Believe me, I am someone who is constantly pushing myself in many ways to go outside my comfort zone, but I absolutely hate it when this advice is directed at new moms. New moms have ALL THE EXCUSES. Really, all moms. Our lives are chaotic and we live in a society that wants us to bounce back like yesterday and look ..read more

I had this idea, and it’s changing the lives of moms
Fit To Be Pregnant
by Deanna Schober

About a year ago I was flying home from meeting with my mentorship of business women feeling connected and inspired, ready to take on the world, when I had an idea that gave me chills. Who needs connection, validation, and inspiration more than the moms of my community? My career is unique in that I have an inside peek at the REAL lives of moms each and every day, not the polished social media version that most of us are seeing. I hear the struggles, I witness the tears, I comfort the fears. And I do this all day, every day. And it breaks my heart, because an underlying theme behind all of thi ..read more
