LONE TREE — Stall ball is dead.
A shot clock is coming to Colorado high school basketball at the varsity level in 2026-27, passing by a vote of 40-30 at Tuesday’s CHSAA Legislative Council meeting at the DCSD Legacy Campus.
The 35-second shot clock applies to all classifications, boys and girls.
Since the NFHS officially approved the shot clock in 2021 and other states began implementing it in 2022-23, Colorado basketball coaches and fans have been pushing for the shot clock here. It was voted upon in January’s Legislative Council meeting but failed, mostly due to financial concerns from small ..read more

DETROIT (AP) — The U.S. Justice Department announced a $138.7 million settlement Tuesday with more than 100 people who accused the FBI of grossly mishandling allegations of sexual assault against Larry Nassar in 2015 and 2016, a critical time gap that allowed the sports doctor to continue to prey on victims before his arrest.
When combined with other settlements, $1 billion now has been set aside by various organizations to compensate hundreds of women who said Nassar assaulted them under the guise of treatment for sports injuries.

A video purporting to show the brother of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic punching a fan after the Nuggets’ game vs. the Los Angeles Lakers has gone viral on social media.
The TikTok video posted following the game at Ball Arena displays text that says, “Jokic brothers going wild,” with a flushed-face emoji. It shows two men in the stands walking toward another man, and as someone yells an expletive, one of the men, who the poster said were the brothers, punches the man sitting lower in the stands.

In the Denver Nuggets’ practice gym, a backpack was on the line. A designer backpack with a speaker built into it. An NBA star player’s backpack.
Four of Jamal Murray’s high school friends and basketball teammates were visiting him in Denver. It was still early in his NBA career, and he was showing them his office. They had made plans to play pick-up together, like old times, so Murray upped the stakes by suggesting they play king of the court for the backpack. “Say less,” Josiah Riley told him. “I’m with it.”

Gov. Jared Polis just signed legislation to ban almost all occupancy limits, and coming rapidly toward his desk is a bill to allow ADUs on almost every single-family lot in big Colorado cities.
The occupancy ban still allows cities and counties to enforce fire codes and to regulate unhealthy and unsanitary conditions, but for the most part, cities will no longer be able to restrict how many unrelated people live in a house or apartment together.
Very few cities still have occupancy limits on their books, and those that do rarely enforce them. Most of the enforcement was occurring in areas near ..read more

Before Jamal Murray ripped out the Lakers’ hearts, Aaron Gordon smothered their soul.
“I think it was in the huddle,” Nuggets wing Peyton Watson said of a 101-99 buzzer-beating win over the Los Angeles Lakers, one that staked Denver to a 2-0 series lead. “(Coach) said (to) switch, and (Gordon) was just like, ‘Whatever, let’s do it.'”
