In a few years, we will be living in a utopia designed by superintelligence

I hate the term AGI: artificial general intelligence - GPT 3.5 had general intelligence, low general intelligence sure, but it had general intelligence in the same way even the dumbest humans have general intelligence. What I prefer is comparison to humans, and Claude 3 is in the top 85th percentile at the very least in writing, math, and science (don't know about programming, but would guess it's at least in the top 50%). Of course, when you look at professionals, who are in the top 10 or 5 percent, it's not as good but compared to GPT 3.5, which I'd say was probably in the top 60 percent, i ..read more

Survey reveals translators and illustrators losing work to AI

Approximately 1 in 5 respondents have used generative AI in their work, with translators and illustrators being significantly affected. Concerns include loss of work, devaluation of income, and fears of AI mimicking human creativity. Respondents emphasize the need for regulation to ensure consent, credit, and compensation when using generative AI. There is a call for transparency in AI usage and ethical development to protect human creativity and authorship. My plan to learn AI/ML

Im figuring out how to tackle this. Rather than jumping ship into Pytorch and implementing models. I think its best to spend a couple of months on data collection and data processing using python libraries like NumPy, pandas etc. That way i get some proficiency in python which i have some experience in already and i get to understand the first and crucial step in ML. Once i'm quiet confident with python data collection and data processing, then it would be a good time proceed to learn PyTorch, existence of various models, how to implement and train them. Essentially the plan is: Start with l ..read more

Hello, I'm running some sort of event website / online magazin and I'm looking for ideas / options to utilize AI to improve the offering. Ideally it would be more automation on the back office side of things. And some cool feature for the visitors. Is there a list of use cases / business success stories to see what can be done and maybe applied to my website? Or do you have other / better ideas to go on about that? submitted by /u/Chris8080 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The Matrix Revisited: Challenging Morpheus’s Red-Pill narrative

The Matrix Revisited: Challenging Morpheus’s Red-Pill narrative A lot of people seem concerned about the idea of "evil machines taking over", such as in The Matrix or Terminator. It seems to me that those scenarios are often contrived to justify the humans-vs-machines context. It seems more likely to me that if we had super intelligent machines that "take over control" that the machines would actually act in humanity's best interest. But if they are much smarter than humans, would humans even recognize that the machines are actually helping, or would we interpret the actions we don't understa ..read more
