I was riding home from work yesterday, going around a blind curving highway off ramp and a post was laying across the road (4" x 4", 10' long). I guess it fell out of a truck in front of me. I had only one option: straighten up, stand up, and hit it square. I was down to about 20mph when I hit it but that was hard enough to bend and deflate both rims (tubeless). Luckily I kept it upright and was able to pull off to the side and assess the damage. I was only 3 miles from home so I nursed it home on two flat tires. I tried to find the lessons in every ride. I was putting a stator in my motorcycle and was struggling. The design had me bolting the stator to the case cover and then bolting the whole unit to the case. The problem is that the stator is magnetic and when I got close to the case on attempt 1, it snapped together and misaligned. Crushing my stator wires and wrecking my gasket. I did attempt number 2 last night and followed an old man's advice. I bought some extra bolts with matching threads but 3 extra inches of length.
