FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Bethany Richardson (Highly Commended); Hanna Pimanava (Winner); Rebecca Chesworth (Shortlisted).  Founded in 1754 by William Shipley, the founding aim of the Royal Society of the Arts was “to embolden enterprise, enlarge science, refine arts, improve our manufactures and extend our commerce”. Members of the Society are called Fellows and are from a diverse background, but share a commitment to civic innovation and social progress. Dominic Lippa, Creative director and Partner at Pentagram London with Graphic Design Programme Leader Barrie Tullett and students.  Chitter Chatter is an event which invites industry members to give a talk, run a short workshop or put on portfolio sessions with Graphic design students from all three levels. For each Chitter Chatter event there is a small charge and the money from these events goes towards the fundraising of the level 3 students end of year show. Freelance designer, James Cann visited back in November and gave an insightful talk on the importance of networking and useful tips o ..read more

  Following on from the BrandOpus shortlist, there has been more success for level 3 students Kara Vicca and Becky Chesworth this week – who both submitted work to the Good (London) brief set by Lincoln alumni Darren Adams and Jim Campbell graduates from 1995. The students were asked to design a brand for a passionate cause – or the greater good. Kara’s winning design Puppo – paws with purpose is a dog support charity that uses shelter dogs to help and support those going through issues such as bereavement.  Whilst Becky’s Bloom & Grow is a community based project based that encourages m ..read more

This year the Chrysalis brief organised by BrandOpus (London) – and in partnership with Molson Coors, gave final year  students the opportunity to propose and develop an innovative alcohol brand that used a specific location to embed a sense of place. We have recently heard that Calum Tait and Imogen Van Goethem have both been shortlisted and will visit London on 23 May to present their ideas to the BrandOpus team.     Imogen’s concept Frankly, was inspired by the Dutch landscape and is a flat cider aimed at ‘foodies’ who like unusual flavours. Conner Davis, Andrew Gower, Meg Pickard, Kacper Trela, Hannah Curtis, Beth Richardson, Jess Ormond and James Shadbolt with Alex from Elmwood Recently the level 3 students shortlisted for the Elmwood project, The Future Brief, Today visited the Leeds studio. Along with four shortlisted students from Leeds University, each student presented their work to the design team and received encouraging feedback. Second years had a live brief for the last two weeks of the previous project, and for the final crit session the client joined us to discuss the students work with them. There was some super feedback from Gyles and tutors worked with him to shortlist the work for presentation to a board of judges.
