I heard that when you're an art/creative director there's a lot of travelling to shoots involved and I suffer with plan anxiety and I do not want to travel, but i do eventually want to become an art/creative director in the future. Is it possible to be one without the travelling?? Thanks!

So I’m having a bit of trouble here. I went to school and got a degree in fine arts. All my classes were pretty much drawing and painting and I would say I’m at a very advanced level with that. The thing is I never ever learned how to do any of this through technology (idk how to phrase that correctly). I want to start getting into graphic design but I literally have 0 clue where to start.
Does anyone have any recommendations for online classes or courses I should take. Any devices I should invest in? Im clueless on how to take my first step

I don't work with any other graphic designers at the moment so I was hoping to get some feedback on my portfolio website. Check it out here and let me know what you think: https://www.nathanielsolbergdesign.com/
For context, I have been a graphic designer for over 10 years and I'm just getting around to building a site that I feel somewhat proud of. I'd like to position myself for illustration and/or logo work. I want to keep my site easy to navigate but I think it could use some more attention to detail. I've been building it for a couple of weeks now and I'm not sure how to refine things. A ..read more

Hey everyone,
I wanted to reach out to the awesome developers here to see if anyone's interested in taking over a couple of abandoned open source projects that are super useful for us graphic designers on Windows . If you're into open source and have a passion for making cool stuff, these might be perfect for you!
Now, I'm more of a HTML, CSS, and JS kind of person, so my contributions would mostly be UI/UX. But if you have the skills, these projects could really use some love.

Hey all!
I’ve posted a few times about navigating as a junior designer and y’all have been so helpful, so I’m hoping you might be able to help me again.
I’m about 6 months into working as a junior designer for an in house design team. It’s been pretty good, with some up and downs, but it feels like more recently it’s been more down than up. A lot of it has to deal with my relationship with my senior designer/supervisor.
Lately, my supervisor M has been complaining about the amount of work he has. My workload as a junior is pretty light, so I offered to take on some of his simpler jobs to help ..read more

I also am new in the field and don’t know which app I should start using as a fresher in the field. Affinity one time payment method seems attractive but I get a lot of work where I’m requested SVG files. In past I have mostly failed to give SVG files so I also need to know if Affinity Designer has SVG export option. Also will the print be affected if I go for Affinity? As most people in the industry use Ai I just need to confirm this.

So a long long time ago (I can still remember) that signmaker in my hometown gave me this CD-ROM with images he had bought some years back but never used.
Somehow I still have it, the thing is crazy nostalgia. Windows 95, image resolution like 640X480 and 256 colors... those are thumbnail resolutions now!
Most computers today don't even have a disc drive to read this :P

Howdy, I often have issues where I have to ask clients for higher quality files/vectors/etc etc. I work at a screen-print shop and I was trying to explain to secretary a file wouldn't open in illustrator because we did not have the font and the art file was missing some embedded files. I asked if she ask the customer for a flattened file. I could not get through to her what I meant and we were talking in circles for a really long time. She did not seem to understand because we had the file as a .pdf it should just work.
How do you guys deal or talk to people about issues like this?

Hi, I’d like to ask for advice about which pages do you, as freelancers, go to when you need resources such as icons, vectors, images… that you don’t have to attribute and can use commercially?
I’m just starting as freelancer and I don’t know if I should pay for premium services in, for example, Freepik? Instead of losing my mind trying to find public domain resources.
