The Apollo Lake NUC 7 Essential that was released back in 2018 is getting a bit long in the teeth, so it’s about time Intel refreshes the Essential line of lower performance NUCs with the 10nm Jasper Lake-based Pentium and Celeron CPUs. The new NUC, codenamed Atlas Canyon, will be available with three different CPUs: the dual-core Celeron N4505, the quad-core Celeron N5105 and the quad-core Pentium N6005. All quad-core versions have a TDP of 15 watts whereas the dual-core Celeron is a 10W model. You can compare the specifications on Intel’s web site here. While the Essential line NUCs are not ..read more

Phantom Canyon NUC Review (NUC11PHKi7C)

This is a review I was hoping to write this spring – half a year ago. I ordered my Phantom Canyon NUC (NUC11PHKi7C) from a dealer that told it should be available in two weeks. Then it was postponed by two weeks, then another week until I was told they cannot commit to any delivery date. I cancelled my order some time during the summer time. Finally a few weeks ago I noticed the thing was available and I decided to pick one up for this review. The global component shortage has hit everyone from car manufacturers to computer giants like Intel. It’s a shame because this year’s NUC models are bet ..read more

The Panther Canyon NUC is the latest version of Intel’s ultra mini desktop PCs that many have been waiting for. After last year’s disappointing Frost Canyon NUC things were finally moving to the correct direction. The Tiger Lake SOC promised significant performance increases and the new Iris Xe Graphics GPU is set to bring integrated GPUs out from the laughable zone. Panther Canyon was announced, pricing was available and then boom! Intel announced that it will be released in Asia Pacific region only due to supply chain issues (see AnandTech article). Thanks again COVID-19. For some reason, th ..read more

Despite Intel reporting that Panther Canyon NUC will only be released to Asia Pacific markets Amazon in Europe is selling the Panther Canyon i7 NUC. I ordered mine last weekend and it was delivered today. Amazon Germany delivers for free to most EU countries and it seems it’s available on Amazon France as well: So far only the i7 model with the taller chassis with 2.5″ SATA slot seems to be available. Have you seen any other places where either Panther Canyon or Tiger Canyon NUCs are really available for immediate delivery? Please let everyone know in the comments below! Akasa Turing FX – Frost Canyon NUC Fanless Case Review
The NUC Blog

Akasa is a well-known manufacturer of fanless cases for Intel NUC computers. They’ve been producing cases for various NUCs for a good amount of years though they’re probably more known for their cooling solutions. Today I’m writing you about the Turing FX which is the latest fanless case they’ve produced for the Intel Frost Canyon NUC. The case was kindly given me for the review by Akasa – thank you! Turing itself is not a completely new product, as there is a very similar case for the earlier Bean Canyon NUC called simply Akasa Turing. Turing FX is the new case that can take the Frost Canyon ..read more

The i7 model of Intel’s NUC 10 Performance hit the shelves already early this year but the i3 and i5 models have only recently started to be available. I’ve already written articles about the i3 and the i7 models so if you’ve read those there will not be much new in this one for you as the models are very similar. The NUC10i5FNK NUC that I have in review here is also called Frost Canyon i5 NUC (codename for NUC product) or Comet Lake i5 NUC (codename for CPU used). The NUC in the review was borrowed to me by a local NUC specialist retailer TeraStore – many thanks! The i5 model sits between th ..read more

Intel’s new Comet Lake i3 NUC Reviewed (NUC10i3FNK)

The Frost Canyon NUC is Intel’s latest performance-line NUC also known as NUC 10 Performance. The i7 model has been on the market for quite some time already but the i3 and i5 models have been missing in action. Possibly delayed due to the COVID outbreak. Anyhow, both of them are now available and I’ve got both here for review. Let’s start with the i3 model. This NUC is identical to its i7 sibling so many things in my Comet Lake i7 NUC review are true for this NUC as well. The NUC in the review was borrowed to me by a local NUC specialist retailer TeraStore. The i3 model is the entry point in ..read more

Phantom Canyon NUC with GTX 1660 Ti Spotted

You might remember that earlier this year FanlessTech reported that the successor to the Hades Canyon NUC is going to be called Phantom Canyon NUC. The original Hades Canyon NUC had an AMD GPU and obviously this is not something that’s going to happen for Phantom Canyon. According to the leaked material it is coming in two different versions, one with a 6 GB discrete GPU and i5 CPU and another one with 8 GB of VRAM and i7 CPU. Hardware Leaks is reporting today of a 3DMark result that’s coming supposedly from a Phantom Canyon NUC. The benchmark has been executed using a quad-core 2.3 GHz (boos ..read more

Finally An Update for Hades Canyon GPU Drivers
The NUC Blog
by Olli
4y ago
The Hades Canyon NUC debuted back in 2018 and it remains the most powerful NUC for gaming. This is because rather surprisingly Intel decided to equip these NUCs with a Kaby Lake-G GPU that was packaged with a fairly powerful Radeon RX Vega M GPU. Since that Intel has decided to kill off this line of CPUs and focus on their own Xe GPUs. This probably explains why there has not been too much driver updates for Hades Canyon lately. Previous driver from Intel was released back in January 2019, so that’s a bit of a gap there. However, recently Intel has released a “driver update” on their Download ..read more
