After the Helldivers 2's community's latest victory, here's more good news - those "impossible" citizen evac missions will be adjusted soon

Helldivers 2's most recent Major Order really came down to the wire, but the community managed to pull out a victory that's really impressive - given how dire the situation looked earlier this week. The celebrations haven't ended there either, with Arrowhead having indicated that some evac missions which've been proving near impossible should be adjusted soon. Yup, after plenty of arguing about the difficulty hardcore players were having in trying to convince all of their casual pals that they needed to pitch in, the same tenacity that killed a bunch of bugs the other week helped folks succes ..read more

Fallout 4 next-gen update runs into a pretty big problem on PS5, but Bethesda says it's working on it
VG247

Well, Fallout 4's next-gen update arrived yesterday, as expected, though its deployment has been far from issue-free. The most noteworthy of these was a problem which has led to those who previously acquired the game via PlayStation Plus being unable to upgrade it to the PS5 version for free. Bethesda's said that it's working on rectifying this, with players being left to twiddle their thumbs in the interim. If you're just catching up on things, Fallout 4's next-gen update brings the game to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as including some graphical tweaks and bug fixes that vary ..read more

Sand Land review – an imperfect, but worthy, final game from one of the best to ever do it

As every Dragon Ball fan will know by this point in time, Akira Toriyama sadly passed away in March of this year. I won't spend too much time eulogising him, many others closer to him have put it much better than I ever could, but it was obviously a monumental loss for the world of anime and manga. And games, too. There quite literally is no Dragon Quest or Chrono Trigger, amongst so much else that his work inspired within video games, so Sand Land – based on one of his own worlds and stories – finally getting its due in both the form of a film (later released as a series in the west) and as ..read more

Microsoft has announced its third quarter earnings for the period ending March 31, 2024, noting a 62% revenue increase in Xbox content and services. As part of the More Personal Computing sector, Microsoft said the increase was driven by 61 points of net impact from the Activision acquisition. Thanks to the latter, revenue for the sector was up 17% to $15.6 billion year-over-year (yoy). However, taking Activision Blizzard King out of the equation, revenue for Xbox content and services was only up by 1%. Gaming revenue was up 51% yoy to $5.45 billion, but once again, 55 points were from Micros ..read more

Blizzard has announced that after “careful consideration over the last year,” it will not host BlizzCon 2024 this year. According to the company, the “decision was not made lightly,” as BlizzCon “remains a very special event” for the studio, and it knows that many people look forward to it. “While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years,” said the firm in a statement. Shogun has concluded and despite fans yearning for more, the creators aren't sure a second season is needed - and we agree

The FX limited series Shogun ended on April 23, and fans of the ten-episode drama are clamoring for a second go-round; however, that’s not likely to happen, according to showrunner Justin Marks and writer Rachel Kondo. This is because the series was based on the novel of the same name by the late James Clavell, who didn’t write a sequel. Set in 17th-century feudal Japan, it tells the story of shipwrecked English navigator John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis) who spends the rest of his days in the country. Blackthorne’s character was based on the real-life William Adams who, in 1600, became the fir ..read more

What do you want from Fallout 5? We asked some Fallout community staples what they need from the next game in Bethesda's series

Ok, so Fallout 4’s next-gen update finally drops this week, and, obviously, it’s not remotely close to being Fallout 5. If you’ve been among the droves of folks returning to everything from Fallout 76 to New Vegas after enjoying Amazon’s Fallout TV show, you don’t need me to tell you that it’s been a little while since we’ve had a new Fallout game. Bethesda’s been busy with Starfield and is now moving on to The Elder Scrolls 6, but, at some point - hopefully before 2077 - Fallout 5 should be a thing. Though, while it’s still a weird little gleam in the eye of Todd Howard - and the rest of the ..read more

Playing an F1 game is all about pretending to be an F1 driver - and usually realising how terrible you'd likely be if that dream somehow came true. In the realm of Career Mode, however, you can always be the uber-skilled lovechild of Ayton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton that you like to think of yourself as. As part of a hands-off preview that saw us learn about the handling changes coming with EA Sports F1 24, we also got a rundown of the freshly revamped Career Mode it'll feature. The big news? You're no longer limited just to creating your own F1 legacy. During the preview ..read more

Escape from Tarkov's community goes up in flames over the most expensive edition's pricing and content changes
VG247

The Escape from Tarkov community hasn't received well the news of a brand-new most expensive edition replacing the old one and barring them from a previously promised DLC, among other things. While it's been continuously praised over the last few years as one of the best online FPS games on the market and the king of the 'extraction' subgenre, Escape from Tarkov's approach to pricing and paid upgrades has always been iffy to say the least, and the Unheard Edition's announcement might've been the straw that breaks the camel's back. According to developer Battlestate Games, the Unheard Edition ..read more

The Fenix rises again? Did a veteran COG actor just spill the beans on Gears of War 6?

If you've been anxiously awaiting news from Xbox Game Studios and The Coalition about Gears of War 6, know that you're not alone. Thankfully, the wait might be coming to an end really soon, as the rumor mill is heating up. While the timing makes sense (Gears 5 came out in 2019), AAA development is so screwed up nowadays that making these predictions is almost pointless. Recent reports, however, have claimed that a sixth mainline Gears of War is indeed part of Xbox's summer plans to wow the gaming sphere. Now, we may have just received proper confirmation from a major COG actor. When asked on ..read more
