Rowing Ireland coach education is excited to launch two free nutrition workshops for rowers and coaches hosted online by sport nutritionist Leanne Varley. The workshops will cover how to fuel for training and competition. They will explain how fuelling can improve your performance and the risks of fuelling incorrectly. Lee Rowing Club Regatta Update

Masters rowing is a fast-growing category in Irish Rowing and Lee Rowing Club has changed the regatta format to support this.   Lee Regatta is now a two-day regatta, holding the traditional sprint regatta on Saturday 18th May, and a masters regatta on Sunday 19th May. The Masters come to Glenarm! Saturday, 4th May 2024, will see over 200 rowers from 21 rowing clubs located all over Ireland and the UK descend on Glenarm for the 2nd Swift Racing Irish Master’s Coastal Championships. This is the second year the event has been hosted by Olderfleet Rowing Club and based in Glenarm. This weekend Skibbereen Regatta kicked off the first Grand League event of the 2024 regatta season. The Grand League is made up of four events; Skibbereen Regatta, Lough Rynn Regatta, Dublin Metropolitan Regatta and Cork Regatta. These events differ from regular regattas as the events are grouped in two divisions, allowing rowers to compete against crews of similar speed rather than just being confined to their age or points category. Winning her first international medal in the LM1x event, Margaret brought home the silver for Team Ireland at the European Championships on Sunday. Margaret, racing for the first time at an international event in the single scull, was the fastest off the blocks in the first 500m of the final. However, Alena Furman, racing under a neutral flag, challenged Margaret through the middle and took the lead through the 1000m mark. Paul will kicking be off finals day for team Ireland at the European Championships tomorrow. Racing the M1x at 09:03 in the B Final after finishing 5th in the semis today, he will face scullers from Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia tomorrow . Another fantastic day of racing unfolded in Szeged, Hungary, with two crews from Ireland taking to the water for day two of the 2024 European Championships. It’s into the A final for the Women’s double of Fermoy RC’s Alison Bergin and Tralee RC’s Zoe Hyde. In similar fashion to yesterday’s heat, the double sat comfortably within the pack until the last 500m, where they made a push through the Swiss and Czech crews to clinch second place and secure a spot in Sunday’s A Final.
