Previously in a former slaughterhouse during last year’s Salone and an abandoned military hospital in 2022 Alcova 2024 took place in two of the most extraordinary villas of the Milan metropolitan area: Villa Borsani and Villa Bagatti Valsecchi. Just around the corner from Rick Owens Milan store, the new Vincenzo de Cotiis gallery is situated on via Privata Fratelli Gabba, in the heart of Milan’s most prestigious district. I finally had the chance to visit the gallery, founded by Vincenzo and Claudia Rose De Cotiis. The 300 sqm space shows standout works of contemporary art alongside collectible design, jointly curated by the couple. I snapped a few images! Japanese hemp textile brand majotae showed its first product line ‘majotae 9490’ at Milan Design Week 2024. I visited their installation at Berta, an elegant nineteenth-century palace with courtyards on Via Cesare Correnti. Not only the location but also the sneak peek into the archive of the brand made me want to find out more. The location was already closed when we arrived but luckily we could still have a look. When visiting Collectible Design Fair in Brussels I was impressed by the works of Atelier Tourain. The multidisciplinary atelier, founded by Tanguy Tourain and Julie Desmidt, grew out of the roots of their custom-made company Fo Le Fer. Before heading to Milan for Milan design week, a last update from when I visited Paris last January. After reading an article about Rozemarijn de Witte and Pierre Traversier’s Parisian gallery, Arrogant Verneuil I was curious to visit their boutique and Open House and get a sneak peek into their world.
