As the seasons shift and the days grow imperceivably longer, we are at the familiar crossroads of time here in the U.S., specifically, Daylight Savings Time (DST). That biannual time of year when we adjust our clocks forward, all in the name of maximizing daylight hours. Knowing that persons with ADHD commonly struggle with time awareness, this 100+ year practice had me curious about the history behind this possibly outdated tradition, why it continues to alarm such debate, and most importantly, the specific impact on people with ADHD and strategies might help them to make this time-transiti ..read more

Last week I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Reviewing the last several months, it’s amazing it took so long for the diagnosis to be made. I hope that by writing this article, you can gain some awareness of what hypothyroidism might look like for you, so you don’t have to struggle as I did with seemingly apparent symptoms. Are you ready for a big truth? It’s really very big… Okay, here goes: An ADHD Life CoachTM is not a Life Coach. Let me explain. While an ADHD Life CoachTM is trained with the same skills, competency, and ethics as any other regulating body, there is one primary difference. A Life Coach typically does not. This does not mean that they are not great at coaching. It means that for a person living with an ADHD ..read more

The following is a guest blog from Jose Ventura, an amazing person with ADHD living in Chile.  Control has a different meaning depending on the surrounding context. Isn’t it odd that the word itself does not entirely own its definition? To have control over, to be in control, or to control something, are all different. Variables of Control are entities, objects, or people; the result is how these interact. For example ..read more

I’ll admit it. I have been in a downward emotional funk for weeks. Not being able to shake it has been unbearable at times. Maybe you can relate. 2020 was to be the year! Who Supports You as a Coach?
iACT | ADHD Blog

As coaches, we are a supporter to many people. The provider of a safe place for clients to become self-aware, discover solutions, and celebrate their success. But who supports you? As an ADHD Life Coach, one of the questions I teach my students to ask their clients and themselves is “what support do you need?” The reason? It often doesn’t occur to those of us with ADHD to consider who or what we need to help us achieve what we want in life. Sometimes this is because we have isolated ourselves from others as a result of our ADHD. The guilt and shame of our own shortfalls has us going it alone ..read more
