Wow, it’s nearly the end of 2023 and what a year! Thanks to all my subscribers and readers for your continued support especially this year when I have been posting less as I finished my PhD. After working on the PhD thesis for 6 1/2 years I submitted on November 28 – 103,000 words, 438 pages and 1530 citations! My deepest gratitude to all the amazing photojournalists and industry folk who participated and supported me on this extraordinary journey. For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, spring is here, and the air is filled with the fragrance of blossoms, in particular magnolias and jasmine. In the past month I’ve spent time in Tasmania working on the final draft of my PhD – the end is near. I have a deep affinity with this Australian state, its majestic natural beauty, the freshest of air and friendly locals. While I was there I met some of the protestors who are fighting to save the takayna/Tarkine forest, one of the true natural wonders of the world.
