There are stories that are worth repeating. Some of them are family stories, some are from school, and some are parables. Jesus often taught some extremely poignant realities of who God is through parables. One of my favorite parables of Christ is Luke 15. If you have never read or haven't read Luke 15 recently, take time to do so soon as it is a heart-mind-soul changer. I firmly believe that if you are curious to know what the heart of God looks like—the parables in Luke 15 gives us glimpse of the infinite love of our Creator.
God continues to write magnificent beauty today through us. One st ..read more

Being a parent is not easy. One of my favorite stories is that of a young father who took his three-year-old son to the grocery store. The boy was constantly making more work for his father. Each time the father would put something in the grocery cart, the boy would throw it out. When the cart got close to the shelves, the boy would reach out and pull items off the shelves to the floor. On one occasion the child knocked over a carefully stacked group of cans—sending them in all directions. While the father was picking them up, the boy took off down one of the aisles.

The movie titled Catch Me if You Can was based on the life of Frank Abagnale, a man who made a living at deception. Frank had an uncanny ability to convince people he was something he wasn't. During the course of his life, he helped perform surgeries as a doctor, flew a commercial airplane as a pilot—he even worked as an assistant attorney general. Frank was intelligent, articulate, charming and talented, but he wasted all of his God-given gifts pretending to be something he wasn't. And when the FBI finally caught up with him, he ended up spending years in federal prison.

I enjoy the memes which say that if you remember certain items, such as typewriters, you are certainly well along in age. No argument there. One thing I remember in this category is the old flash bulbs for cameras; the ones which would almost pop as they emitted the needed light for the picture. I remember many of them lying around the church after weddings. I clearly remember how much flash they emitted. They were almost overwhelmingly bright; certainly shockingly so. It seemed to me that they would leave lasting images in my vision. We have come a long way from those days. I have read s ..read more

Romans 8:35-39
Okay, I must admit that I love romantic comedies. They may not achieve artistic mastery, but they always make me smile and sometimes even warm my heart. However, the problem with romantic comedies is that they assume everyone trusts love. Even if they follow the familiar trope of having one of the partners arrive with an untrusting heart, trust seems easily won and quickly gained in such films. I haven't seen this to be true in real life. Perhaps this is why Paul invites us so fervently to trust that absolutely nothing in all creation can separate us from God's love. Paul writes ..read more
