My husband and business partner, Soren, is on the podcast with me today. We’re reflecting on the past year which is one of my favorite things to do around this time. As a business owner, it’s great to reflect on what the last year has brought and how that can set us up for success in the new year.
While we celebrated the one-year anniversaries of two of our retail locations, we also celebrated our seventh year in business. Looking back, that fifth anniversary was such a redefining point. The first few years felt super busy and crazy just trying to get everything off the ground. Recent y ..read more

As a working mom, I think family traditions are more important than ever – not to mention they are my favorite no-brainer holiday activities. They completely take the stress out of coming up with activities, and they create memories for my kids and give them something to look forward to. Having some go-to holiday traditions not only makes your life easier but also creates a family structure and sense of belonging for your children.
Anything can start as a tradition – big or small. Just start doing something. It’s the consistency that adds up. And if something goes well, commit to trying it aga ..read more

National Mental Health Day passed a few weeks ago. I was so inspired by everyone who not only acknowledged the day but shared their unique stories. I was reminded of my own the struggles and achievements and how much hearing other people’s stories helped in my recovery. So, I wanted to take some time to share more about my own personal mental health journey in the hopes it will help someone else who m ..read more

My guest on the podcast this week, Angela Lee Gieras, describes herself as a collector of interesting people, citing a passion and motivation for supporting others. Her story is so inspiring, and touches on what happens when you pursue your passion and say yes to new opportunities.
Angela left a lucrative career in finance to pursue her passion in theater. She knew her finance background and passion for the arts could translate to meaningful change in her community. I loved hearing about Angela’s career path as we chatted about the importance of female friendships, how her experience in impro ..read more

I’m not usually one for dressing up for Halloween. I hate costumes- until I don’t. This year I knew the costume for me as soon as I saw the movie Cruella. The new Cruella is definitely my favorite movie of 2021 and the idea of being cool Cruella for Halloween was a no-brainer. I’ve been pl ..read more

This is a story about the baby of the family. The cutest, coolest little dude who pretty much gets what he wants. His family does not love video games and yet somehow he got his wish and he and Dad dressed up as the most classic video game duo of all time, Mario and Luigi!
LUIGI COSTUME // MARIO COSTUME // MUSTACHES
Rush told me weeks ago that he wanted to be Luigi and once his costume came, I died. The belly, the mustache, the gloves- it’s too much! I prompted told Soren he was dressing as Mario and ordered the costume supplies. It was a super easy costume to pull off for Soren o ..read more

It’s that time of year- family photo time! Our family does family pics a little more often than most- but it’s actually been a while for us! We’ve not had them done since before Covid- which makes sense- but I am still ready for some new family photos on the wall! When it comes to family photos, I love choosing the outfits and getting the final photos back. I do not love the day of or the process of taking them. Even for as often as we take photos, we still deal with a lot of drama. One (or two!) kids always cry, someone gets hurt, we’re all sweating- it’s just a big to-do. But like I said, I ..read more

This week’s style inspo is inspired by Fall jewel tones and these amazing Nickel & Suede Amethyst leather earrings that released today. Sometimes I have a hard time with wearing purple but today’s pairings are plenty edgy and fun for Fall. I love how this purple look came together.

It looks good with my coloring but it can be a little harder for me to style with the neutrals and green and denim that I often wear. BUT- today I’ve found a good mix of sweet and edgy by pairing this purple cropped sweater with some straight leg black jeans a ..read more

Hello from the short side! If you’ve been following me for several years you know that short hair is my jam. I went short about 9 years ago and I never really went back. I have however tried lots of short hair cuts and styles and even colors. This last year I’ve been in grow-out mode after a time with an undercut. I loved my undercut, but after a particularly stressful time I lost a lot of hair and losing hair combined with an undercut was not cute. My short hair was really thin and needed a revamp. I started taking supplements to grow my hair (these) and I got extensions to thicken it up whil ..read more
