5 Potential Quarterback Options For The New York Jets
The Big Lead | Sports News and Media

The New York Jets need a quarterback. Sam Darnold is probably out until sometime in October with mono. On Monday night against the Browns, short-term starter Trevor Siemian suffered a season-ending leg injury. Now the Jets are down to third-stringer Luke Falk. Less than a week ago he was on the practice squad. Less than a week from now he’ll have to start against the New England Patriots in Foxboro. The Jets are in a weird spot. They have a starter, but he’s out for a few more weeks. Even if Darnold comes back soon, they probably aren’t sure they want Falk as their primary backup. So what do t ..read more

College football season keeps on rolling. We’ve already reached our fourth full weekend of games, so teams are already starting to dream up travel plans to exotic bowl destinations. The season has also been a bit of a wake-up call to some coaches of the nation’s more elite programs, one that’s gotten them thinking of vacations as well…trips that could be a bit more permanent. Here are five coaches who are feeling the heat after a poor start to the year. Jeff Brohm, Purdue Brohm has, at the very least, gotten people talking about Boilermaker football again. In 2017, the former XFL great guided ..read more

VIDEO: Mike Leach Breaks Down Who Would Win a Pac-12 Mascot Fight

Mike Leach has distinct thoughts on a lot of things, so of course he has opinions about how Pac-12 mascots would fare if the battled each other. And, because he’s Mike Leach, he clearly thought it all out before. Check this out: Mike Leach was in peak form on a Pac-12 mascot battle. Do Sun Devils have mythical powers? And if a Ute has a rifle, there's some definite problems. pic.twitter.com/FCE96RXawe — Alyssa Charlston (@Alyssacharlston) September 16, 2019 Naturally, Leach thinks the Cougar would be tough to beat, but it’s a solid breakdown. He was thorough and clearly took it very seri ..read more

Unfortunately, Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Warriors is a Thing

Like many NBA fans, I’m currently looking forward to an NBA season that is not going to be spoiled by Golden State’s dominance. And let’s hope it pays off because apparently, it may not last long. Yesterday, Ramona Shelburne dropped some scary insight saying the Warriors are a “big threat” to sign Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021 when he becomes a free agent. While Decision 1.0 for Antetokounmpo is still a few seasons away, this thought will keep a fan up at night. I mean, how lucky can one team be in a decade? First, they draft two of the best shooters of all-time and then add the best player i ..read more

It will be close, but no cigar once again for those in Ann Arbor desperate to believe that this is the savior. Wisconsin 26, Michigan 21 Giuffra: Wisconsin Michigan has looked like hot garbage at times this year, while Jonathan Taylor and Wisconsin’s ground-and-pound offense has been unstoppable. Yes, it was against lowly opponents, but the same is true of Michigan. At home, I give the Badgers the edge. Wisco ..read more

Colin Cowherd: It's the Perfect Time For Eli Manning to Mentor Daniel Jones
The Big Lead | Sports News and Media
by Stephen Douglas

Eli Manning was officially benched for Daniel Jones today after the New York Giants’ 0-2 start. Thus ends the Eli Manning era which began in November 2004 and lasted nearly 15 years. The question now becomes, will Eli stand with his team and mentor his rookie replacement? Or will he try to force his way out in a manner similar to how he showed up in New York in the first place? Colin Cowherd is hopeful that Eli takes the dignified path. “This is dignified. Eli Manning can now be a mentor for the next 14 weeks… It’s a perfect time for Daniel Jones.” @ColinCowherd reacts to the New York Giants ..read more

Patriots, Dolphins Make More Betting History Heading Into Week 3

The New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins are making further history on the betting lines, each on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. This pair of AFC East rivals are each involved in games that are predicted to be decided by at least 20 points. The Patriots are 22.5-point home favorites against another East squad, the New York Jets, while the Dolphins are -21.5 point underdogs against the Cowboys in Dallas. This is the first time there have been multiple 20-point favorites in a weekly NFL slate since 1987. The 1986 season was marred by a player’s strike that forced replacement players ..read more

Daniel Jones' Entry Is Understandable, But Poorly Timed
The Big Lead | Sports News and Media

Save for a Geno Smith cameo in 2017, football in the New York City area has been taken on a roller coaster ride captained solely by Eli Manning since 2004. The youngest of the Southeastern quarterbacking dynasty has driven the blue cars of the New York Giants up two massive hills, coming down them with a pair of Super Bowl titles, but the descents have been equally exhausting…and longer. Over the past two seasons, Manning has a record of 8-25 as a starter, by far one of the worst marks in the league. Seat belts on the Manning thrill ride were finally loosened on Tuesday afternoon. The Giants o ..read more

Jalen Ramsey's Post-Trade Request Press Conference Was a Disaster
The Big Lead | Sports News and Media
by Liam McKeone

On Monday, the news was leaked that Jalen Ramsey had requested a trade out of Jacksonville. On Tuesday, he met with the media to discuss the situation. It went … poorly. Ramsey was extremely honest and forthright about which questions he would and would not answer during the 15 minutes he stood in front of the Jaguars’ press core, which was a bit refreshing instead of receiving the same scripted response for every question he wasn’t going to answer like he was a member of the Patriots. But the Jaguars came off very poorly in their decision to put Ramsey out there, and it’s hard to understand w ..read more
