Being a parent means having a lot of potentially tough conversations, especially as they enter their tween and teen years. And while it’s totally normal if you feel nervous to talk to your kids about periods, it’s so essential to help them navigate the many bodily changes that occur during puberty, no matter their gender. Thankfully, Jessica Biel is here to help make those “important conversations” a little bit easier. The actress is releasing her very first kids’ book, aptly titled A Kids Book About Periods, with the goal of destigmatizing period talk with your little ones. Biel, a mom of two ..read more

Swifties, I know this past week has been your Superbowl (after the Superbowl itself was also kind of your Superbowl). And while there’s no shortage of Easter eggs to hunt for in the lyrics and liner notes of The Tortured Poets Department, we’re currently fixated on her adorable look featured in the BTS scenes of her #ForAFortnightChallenge YouTube short. (And no, we don’t mean the Post Malone face tattoos.) Related: I took my autistic daughter to see Taylor Swift overseas—and it was magical We’re talking the flouncy, lavender haze tulle skirt that’s as ready for smashing aces as it is for si ..read more

Men aren’t typically part of fertility conversations—until something goes wrong

Once you decide that parenthood is in your near future, the path initially seems straightforward: start monitoring your diet, make an appointment with your OB-GYN, stop your current birth control, begin tracking your period. Seems simple, but before you know it (and before I knew it) these steps can start to feel more like a list of chores—and to me, it seemed like the weight of this responsibility rested heavily on my shoulders. But that’s normal, right? Wrong.  I remember sitting in my OB-GYN’s office during a routine pregnancy check, only to receive the gut-wrenching news that&nbs ..read more

This mom’s hack for getting a bead out of her toddler’s nose will make you stop scrolling

We all know that moment of terror in the pit of your stomach when your toddler does one of those classically dumb things all kids do, like, say, sticking a small object into one of their orifices. Since the beginning of time, children have been shoving small rocks, coins, toys, beads, etc. into their mouths, ears, noses, etc. If you told me this is why emergency rooms were invented, I would fully believe you. But in a TikTok video that will make you hold your breath and then laugh in utter relief, a mom has an amazing hack for avoiding the urgent care bill when her kid pulls that move we all k ..read more

Halle Bailey quietly welcomed her first child, Halo, with her boyfriend, DDG, last year. Now, she’s opening up about something else she kept private: her struggles with postpartum depression. In a video shared to Snapchat, Bailey shared with fans that she struggled with “severe, severe postpartum” after giving birth toward the end of 2023. “And I don’t know if any new moms can relate, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad, and it’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out,” she said in the video. Ok folks. Be prepared to have Bluey rip your heart out and make you cry again. In a post on Reddit that has since been deleted (probably because they were asked to pack up their things in a box and leave the premises), an employee at Ludo who was one of the crew who worked on our beloved show said that the show is complete and the last episode was “Surprise!”—which followed what we thought was the last episode, “The Sign.” Reddit has confirmed this post came from a “for real life” employee, stating on the original thread, “The mods have approved this post as OP has provided some verification o ..read more

Before we had a kid, my husband and I attended a lot of metal concerts together. The strangest thing we ever saw wasn’t the flames, the fake blood, or helicopters of long sweaty hair twirling around on stage. It was the 4-year-old child on a mom’s shoulders at a Cannibal Corpse show. To be fair, he was wearing noise-cancelling headphones. The mom told us that this was her son’s fifth time at a Cannibal Corpse show and he had been to many other death metal band’s shows in his short 4 years of life. “You gotta start them young!” she said as her kid did the devil horn hands and screamed as loud a ..read more

If you’re a parent who finds themselves feeling lonely, isolated, burnt out, or otherwise completely frayed, you’re far from alone. In fact, according to a new nationwide study, 66% of parents struggle with these feelings, with many citing the modern demands of parenthood challenging their ability to connect with their peers. The loneliness epidemic has encapsulated us all, it seems. Earlier this month, researchers at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus surveyed 1,005 parents, with two-thirds of respondents reporting that the “demands of parenthood sometimes or frequent ..read more

Mom asks if she’s wrong for making her daughter shower in the locker room after gym class

Communal showers after PE (aka gym class) in school may as well have been a torture device. Everyone who experienced that particular flavor of teenage hell remembers how stressful it was to have to disrobe in front of God and literally all your peers on a weekly (or even daily) basis at school. As adults looking back on it, it’s incredible that it was even allowed. And now, a mom on Reddit is asking the internet if she was wrong for forcing her daughter to participate in this awful ritual, even though she was uncomfortable with it. “I (F45) have a 14-year-old daughter, who I’ll call Mikaela.
