A lot of factors come into play when ranking these places—it’s not easy and I won’t be surprised if we disagree. Taste is always going to be personal, and sometimes even controversial, though I will be as objective as possible. I hope this helps to open more conversations around food, and uncover more tasty spots and value-added calories.
After a happenstance hiatus from the blog, and giving some thought on the content I want to produce, I’ve decided to start a ‘top eats’ list. Unlike the routine ones that spring forth to mark year-ends, I wanted to do something more real-time, less affected b ..read more

Great opportunity to get your hands on some coveted home bakes without the delivery fee, or even try a slice before committing to a whole cake or box of treats. PS. We hear the extremely popular DorisGozBakes will also be making an appearance!
For those looking for some good news this shaky start of the new year, Far East Organization has an initiative that will put a smile on your face.
Set up by the real estate developer, Baker X is a baking studio and cafe space that will house—at no costs—home-based bakers looking to scale up their business and get a taste of running a physical store. Bak ..read more

It’s not often I come across a restaurant that immediately catapults to the apex of my (upcoming) ‘top eats’ list. Everything was seriously superb—from the warm, woody interiors to printed menus, pacing or service.

And according to those who had the pleasure of enjoying Episode 1 of Chef Louis Han’s stellar ‘contemporary Seoul cuisine’ when NAE:UM was launched mid-2021, his Episode 2 'Mountain Lodge' menu (from 6-Courses at $168)–inspired by Seoul’s scenic peaks and of hearty meals meant to re-energise and comfort—is even more complete and cohesive with stori ..read more

My first thoughts when I perused the tasting menu: Has Chef Damian gone commercial? Will his repertoire of almost forgotten, soulful recipes be truly forgotten?
Thankfully, these fears remain unfounded. Fans of chef’s masterful plates from now-defunct Folklore and Restaurant Kin will find relief in the re-entrance of his Peranakan and Eurasian signatures on Rempapa’s dinner menu.

Opened in collaboration with OUE Restaurants, Rempapa is an all-day dining spot. There are currently 20-odd dishes to choose from across breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea and ..read more

At a corner of Far East Square is this beautifully two-storey heritage building that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. I remember climbing those creaky steps a few years back when it was another restaurant, and the highlight being a glorious suckling pig—still one of the most wonderful I’ve had to date.

They say too many cooks spell disaster, but Le Binchotan’s Chef Jeremmy Chiam proves otherwise with newly returning ‘Supper Special’ series that sees new friends—ArChan Chan, Executive Chef of LeVeL33; Sam Chablani of now-defunct Fat Lulu’s fame, also peddling delish supplies of Kombu Butter on Fresh AF; and Folklore’s executive chef, and MasterChef Singapore judge, Damian D’Silva—coming together with intriguing new twists on supper favourites.

With 10 years of experience in the F&B business, and over 150 outlets across China, it’s almost absurd we haven’t heard of Yun Nans sooner. Its name sounds disappointingly similar to a homegrown hair care brand—the chain is actually known known as Yun Hai Yao (云海肴) in China—but the fiery fare from this first-ever international outpost impresses.
The restaurant specialises in highland cuisine, featuring earthy ingredients—such wild porcini, wild bl ..read more
