The Importance of Establishing Boundaries After 60
Sixty and Me
by Leslie Moon
23h ago
I recently found myself in a position where, at the age of 62, I have begun to establish and actually stick with some boundaries. I had never done this before. A Bit of Background I had recently taken on more of a caretaking role for my mother, who I would describe as fairly narcissistic. Our relationship is less than fabulous, but I am her only child and regardless of my feelings overall, I want her to be s ..read more

Sixty and Me
by Beverly Bowers

Every day, I receive an email from a site called WordDaily. I love to challenge myself to guess the meaning of the word. Recently, eigengrau was the Word of the Day. I recognized its German origin and the “gray” part but not the entire meaning of the word. Eigengrau – Noun The dark gray color seen by the eyes in perfect darkness because of signals from the optic nerves. Website link: Eigengrau A couple of examples of the word’s use: “Before my eyes could adjust to the dark, all I could see was eigengrau,” and “Henry awoke in the eigengrau of total darkness, so he quickly turned on his lamp ..read more

Sixty and Me
by Andrea Pflaumer
2d ago
Many of us are itching to shed our heavy and darker “sophisticated” neutral clothes that we have been wearing and don something in bright and cheerful spring colors. Not that there’s anything wrong with neutrals or with looking sophisticated. And just because a color is bright and cheerful doesn’t mean it’s unsophisticated. Still, those lighter and brighter colors can read as “youthful.” Maybe that’s because they are so often shown in skimpy outfits on very young women. Now, fortunately, the fashion world is getting the memo (albeit slowly!). We love wearing color! Modern senior women are not ..read more

Second Home: Fractional Ownership In Depth
Sixty and Me
by Peter Keers
4d ago
As noted in my previous Sixty and Me blog, fractional ownership (FO) is a newer (and increasingly popular) way to afford a second home. In an FO arrangement, a buyer purchases one or more shares, representing a percentage of the ownership, thereby entitling them to use the property each year for a time equal to that percentage. At first glance, it’s easy to confuse an FO property with a timeshare, but the two are very different legally and in practice. In this blog, I’ll cover more details about fractional second home ownership, including a case study based on actual fractional owners. How Is ..read more
