Has the Colleen Hoover craze hit your classroom yet this school year? I noticed last year some of my girls in class with books like It Ends With Us and Ugly Love. I’d heard of her books years ago, but I never picked one up to read since her books aren’t published as young adult. So last year I started listening to the audio for It Ends With Us to see what the deal was. I didn’t finish it. I was very fortunate to receive an ARC of Frankly in Love by David Yoon this past spring thanks to the people at Penguin. Friends, it is excellent! So excellent, in fact, that I pre-ordered it as soon as I finished reading it. The book trailer does a nice job of giving us a glimpse at the lighter side of the story, but trust me, it goes much deeper than this and hits so many important notes that our kids today need. Back in 2015 I wrote this blog post about how I facilitate a book pass at the beginning of the school year.
