Last Day to Provide SEC Feedback on 13F Proposal

Today is the last day to provide the SEC feedback on its new 13F proposal.  Instructions are at the bottom. SEC's 13F Proposal The SEC is proposing to raise the threshold for who is required to file a 13F disclosing their holdings each quarter.  Currently, managers with $100 million or more in US holdings are required to file.  The proposal seeks to only require managers with $3.5 billion or more in US holdings to file. This would reduce the number of 13Fs filed by 90%.  It would decrease the number of firms that disclose their holdings from around 5,283 to just 549.  ..read more

Reasons to Oppose the SEC's New 13F Proposal

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed amendments to 13F filings.  Currently, investment managers with holdings of US securities totaling $100 million or more are required to file a 13F each quarter.  The proposal seeks to increase that level 35x to managers holding $3.5 billion or more.
