Happy Friday!  I hope you are all safe out there. It has been an unsettling week. It is a little unnerving to have everything closing and cancelled. At this point, school is still open for us on Monday, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they cancelled it starting Monday as Spring Break is scheduled to start next Wednesday. Who knows.... No cases in our school district so far, and it doesn’t seem like kids are any more sick than normal, but you can’t be too safe. We are keeping calm and not hoarding toilet paper. We will get through it, just look after one another and be safe. If you are spendi ..read more

Review: Highfire by Eoin Colfer
Rainy Day Ramblings

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Artemis Fowl series comes a hilarious and high-octane adult novel about a vodka-drinking, Flashdance-loving dragon who lives an isolated life in the bayous of Louisiana—and the raucous adventures that ensue when he crosses paths with a fifteen-year-old troublemaker on the run from a crooked sheriff. In the days of yore, he flew the skies and scorched angry mobs—now he hides from swamp tour boats and rises only with the greatest reluctance from his Laz-Z-Boy recliner. Laying low in the bayou, this once-magnificent fire breather has been r ..read more

The sequel to Dread Nation is a journey of revenge and salvation across a divided America. After the fall of Summerland, Jane McKeene hoped her life would get simpler: Get out of town, stay alive, and head west to California to find her mother. But nothing is easy when you're a girl trained in putting down the restless dead, and a devastating loss on the road to a protected village called Nicodermus has Jane questioning everything she thought she knew about surviving in 1880's America. What's more, this safe haven is not what it appears - as Jane discovers when she sees familiar fac ..read more

Monday Minute: Can You Spare a Square?
Rainy Day Ramblings

Monday Minute.... I have decided to do a new quick feature here on Rainy Day Ramblings, mainly since I can’t keep up with the demands of the blog, my kids, my job and everything else. Posting three reviews a week has gotten to be too much, so I am going to cut back to two reviews a week. That means, Mondays will be devoted to a quick post on whatever I decided to muse on that week.  This week’s Monday Minute is: Can You Spare a Square? Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have had a brush with Coronavirus. The deadly virus that is sweeping the world. At first, I was panicked and sca ..read more

Another week in the books. It seems like the last few weeks have flown by. It is already March. Spring Break is almost here. I can't believe it! I have so much to do, and I am still behind. I am almost over the virus I got last week. I am feeling so much better. With all sickness going around, I think a break is a good thing. Anyway, I am hoping I will get a few reviews and posts prepped for the blog, I am planning on cutting back my review posts. At this point, I can't keep up, so I am going to make Mondays a random musing post and post reviews on Wednesday and Thursday. We will see how it ..read more

The New York Times bestselling author of Columbine offers a deeply moving account of the extraordinary teenage survivors of the Parkland shooting who pushed back against the NRA and Congressional leaders and launched the singular grassroots March for Our Lives movement.
