Those delicious loaves of sourdough bread that are as beautiful as they are tasty? I am obsessed. I love baking them. I love the smell of fresh baked bread filling the house. And I love the taste- that tangy sourdough is so delicious. If you aren’t baking your own sourdough (or any kind of bread) maybe it is something you might enjoy as well. Aside from the health benefits of eating bread with nothing but exactly what you want in it- aka no fluff to make it look more appealing, no preservatives to make it last weeks and no added anything that you don’t. Sourdough is also a bread that is healt ..read more

Sometimes you happen upon something ‘crustic’ and amazing that you weren’t even looking for. Like vintage zinc flower buckets. I mean, you could say that I am always on the lookout for vintage garden bits- so it isn’t a total surprise to find them. But I wasn’t looking for them. And then there they were. Flower Buckets What is a florist bucket? Those tall flower buckets that you see in front of florist shops, on stands for display, etc. They are tall and lovely- sometimes with handles- sometimes without. Some have wheels to roll here and there and others sit in little hoops to layer all the l ..read more

The question of the day… how many vintage chairs is too many? I have a vintage chair weakness and I fall in love with them often. I am okay with it. Especially when the chairs have painted flowers ( another weakness of mine) and lots of lovely little details like the one I sharing today. I told my mom the other day that I had a realization that I can be excessive. She laughed and laughed and pretty much agreed and said she was too and it was okay because some things in excess make you happy. Like antiques for example. Specifically- antique chairs. And if your mom supports the habit- it can’t b ..read more

A simple and sweet weekend view this week. Puzzles, vintage treasures, garden roses and more. Daylight Savings Did anyone else sleep in today? How it is with the time change- but it sure feels like I started the morning running behind when I got up and looked at what time it was. Puzzle Adventures We finished the spooky puzzle yesterday- such a fun one to work on but I have to say, a bit harder in some of the areas than we anticipated and they took us a bit to get figured out. All in all though- working on it for about an hour after dinner the past week was pretty fun and a good way to get yo ..read more

Crystal Chandeliers There is just something about a large elegant crystal chandelier in a room. From delicate gilded metal to swirled glass and of course, lots of crystals covering it. When I was looking for a chandelier for our bedroom- I knew that I wanted something on the large side to really fill the space. With a peaked ceiling and planks of wood and beams- this room begged for something with an abundance of beautiful details in a grand size that would add that elegance to the room – even when it wasn’t twinkling away. At the same time- while I wanted something large- I wanted something t ..read more

This week the weekend view is all about rainy weather, puzzles, thrifting and dreaming about spring. And I am also wondering if anyone knows anything about one of our recent thrift scores- a photo at the bottom of the post. Slow Rolling Puzzles I can remember when I was growing up how my grandparents always had the puzzle table out during winter. When I lived with them when I was a teenager, I would sit at the table and help put the puzzle together with them. And the puzzle just always being there and ready to tackle invited a little down time that was also mental work time- it is a fond memo ..read more
