 From the BC General Employees Union: Yesterday, local government workers, who have been bargaining with the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) since January, blocked the Regional District's attempts to ram through a deal that would have threatened the workers' financial security and risked exacerbating recruitment and retention issues. As a result of this vote, there is no definite timeline for when BCGEU’s strike action will cease. Courtesy of the Government of BC: Work has begun in B.C.’s southern Interior to upgrade 482 kilometres of highways and side roads, renewing driving surfaces for local residents, travellers and the movement of goods. Approximately 33 kilometres of Highway 97 will be repaved this summer from Tuc el Nuit Road, north of Oliver, northward through the community of Okanagan Falls to White Lake Road, along with area side roads. Courtesy of the Cariboo Regional District: The Cariboo Regional District has been informed that the integrated library system (Sitka) of the Cariboo Regional District Library Network was recently impacted by a data breach. On April 25, 2024, our ILS (integrated library system) provider, the BC Libraries Cooperative, (the Co-op) notified us that they had experienced a security incident.
