Last week, my handsome mister Samson celebrated his ninth birthday! It’s bananas that this kid in NINE in what has honestly felt like the blink of an eye. I’m a lot better at keeping on top of posting these days on instagram than my blog (especially since I can do it on the go and with just my thumbs!) but I want to be better at getting back to the longer format blog pages because there is something about posting over here that just makes me feel like I’m home. We celebrated hard with a birthday party at Top Golf and a birthday dinner at a seafood restaurant and so much strawberry shortcake i ..read more

I am passionate about a lot of things — from chocolate chip bagels to dry shampoo, there are a lot of things I swear by and will talk your ear off about because I love these things so much and in an odd way, they’ve changed my life! Warm bagels with chocolate chips inside?! A bottle of shampoo that means I can skip a wash and blow dry?! And are you ready for this next one!? In all honesty, if you’ve been here for the last however many years, you already know where I’m going with this. RASH GUARDS! For summer! For you! And for your kids! Because I am crazy passionate about sun protection and w ..read more

I hope you are ready for the biggest photo dump ever, because I had to include basically all the photos from Madalena and Beatrice’s third birthday! Don’t ask a mother to narrow them down, now! It’s an impossible task.  We celebrated the big day with two pink cakes, a unicorn piñata and new bikes! Also, Nana came to visit which made the weekend extra special (since we also get to celebrate our handsome Mister Samson’s 9th birthday this weekend, too! More on that later- I’m a little behind here.) These two girls are just the greatest. We adore them to the moon and back. I’m a little bit d ..read more

A happy girl.

This is the face of a girl who has been moving her body a lot in 2021. She’s happy. There still isn’t an ideal time in the day. I’m still not a morning person. I still don’t drink enough water and I still come up with a lot of solid excuses to not. But the mental tricks my mind sometimes tries to play on me often disappear each time I stretch or move through a simple yoga flow. It’s like all the little stresses are removed from my headspace when I move. Because movement fills my soul and sometimes in years past, I’ve forgotten what a gift it is to have a body with feet that can point and arms ..read more

Josh had sent me the text message from the other room as we both wrangled kids into separate beds an hour past bedtime. “Will you go on a lunch date with me next week?” It’s like he sensed my exhaustion, frustration, overwhelming annoyance and longing desire to escape the mayhem just two walls away. Maybe he heard it. I was kinda at my wits end. ;) Or maybe he was just channeling his own bundle of similar feelings into his device instead of angrily at his children, but I grasped onto those words for the remainder of the bedtime circus and visited them often in the days that followed. Somethin ..read more

The season for a sandal.

These days, I have some fabulous tan lines on my feet marking visual proof I live in my birkenstock sandals. The tiger strip across the top of my foot (which I actually first noticed way back in early February) kinda says a lot about the year round sandal wearing I’ve been clocking in lately. My kids think the strip is hysterical. I do my best not to point out their sock strip above their sweet little ankles. Sometimes that’s a big part of motherhood ;) But it’s all good because each time I glance down at my feet with the tiger stripe, I’m reminded of a season of life where warmer temps and f ..read more

While the house was still dark and everyone was still sleeping, my oldest kiddos snuck into the kitchen and whipped up a plate of pancakes for mother’s day. They brought the surprise into my bed where I was snuggled between my baby girls who’d found their way to mama’s bed in the early hours of the morning and as my five babies and I sat in a circle on my bed around a pile of pancakes drenched in syrup, I felt so loved. (Josh was away and wasn’t able to join the fun until later in the day.) We were able to keep the sibling arguing and button-pressing to a minimum for most of the day, and we f ..read more

I don’t know if anything has ever “popped” for me the way these tiny pink flower pedals did as we drove by. Just propped so casually cool along the side of a big brown storage warehouse, they almost felt out of place making me do a double take from the passenger seat of the car as we drove by. “We have to pull over and take a picture here!”, I said to Josh who was driving. He readily pulled the car around. Over a decade of marriage to the blogger girl who DoCuMeNtS eVeRyThInG, I’m still just so thankful for the way he shows up for me and my ideas and dreams and random stops alongside warehous ..read more

I had an evening full of goosebumps and teary eyes reading through so many beautiful emails this past week filled with your own heartfelt stories as many of you have worked to build your families in response to my last post. Thank you for taking the time to share them with me. I wish I could re-share all of them here. One of the common themes I kept seeing in many of your emails is the pain often felt when commentary is offered up like, “just be patient,” or “I know it’ll happen for you soon…” or with secondary infertility, comments like “Well at least you have one!” or “But you got ..read more
