Armored vehicles are a global trend, and electric cars are prevalent in many industrial nations. BMW is the first manufacturer to combine both armored protection and electric propulsion in the 7 Series. And hardly anyone notices. This car is a practical few-day-test of a different kind. On the German Autobahn A9 highway towards Berlin, the black BMW 7 Series causes a stir for the first time at the Hermsdorfer Dreieck interchange to the A4. Officers from the local highway patrol stared out of their patrol car at the supposedly inconspicuous i7.

It’s been less than two years since ALPINA unveiled the revised B3, but another update is already on the way. Spy shots taken on a rainy day show the sports sedan with camouflaged bumpers concealing what will be discreet styling revisions. BMW’s in-house tuner/automaker caters to a specific clientele who prefers subtle styling. That’s why this upcoming tweak will fly under the radar to the untrained eye.
Why release a new B3 when the current one has been around for only a couple of years? It’s likely because BMW is giving the 3 Series another nip and tuck as well. The G20 will get a second ref ..read more

The BMW Museum gets a new look for 2024. Well, the entrance area that is. The German luxury brand doesn’t say how much money it invested in giving the lobby area a fresh design. While museums celebrate the past, the goal here is to create a futuristic look. It’s not just a cosmetic revision since the ticket-buying process has been improved as well.
A swanky new seating area is located opposite the counter. In the north entrance, the BMW Museum now hosts a kinetic floor you can interact with, generating electricity with movements. Doing so will trigger a light show for a more immersive experien ..read more

BMW is massively investing at multiple sites across the world to get everything ready for the Neue Klasse’s arrival. The iX3 will get the ball rolling in 2025, followed a year later by the i3 sedan. Four additional electric vehicles on the NK underpinnings will arrive before 2028. To support the arrival of a new wave of EVs, Plant Landshut is getting a major upgrade.
The BMW Group is spending €200 million ($213M at current exchange rates) to bolster the production of components. This brings the grand total of investments at Plant Landshut to a whopping €1 billion since 2020. The upcoming cash ..read more

The battle in the upper echelon of SUVs is intensifying with the arrival of Mazda’s first-ever CX-80. Essentially a larger, three-row version of the CX-60, the newcomer has more than a few things in common with the BMW X5. Not only does it have an inline-six engine and a plug-in hybrid version, but it also sits on a rear-wheel-drive-based platform.
While the CX-60 and CX-80 are for Europe, the CX-70 and CX-90 are for the United States. The American models are identically sized, with the only difference being the number of seats. It’s a different story on the Old Continent where Mazda’s new CX ..read more

BMW is dripping details about the new X3 ahead of the luxury crossover’s full debut in June. We’ve learned from Nicolai Martin, Senior Vice President Driving Experience BMW Group, a juicy detail about the M Performance version. Likely to switch from the current “X3 M40i” to the “X3 M50” designation, the spicy derivative will come with stately 22-inch wheels.
Yes, 22-inch wheels on an X3. Well, perhaps that’s not such a surprise considering BMW is selling 21-inch wheels for the baby-ish X1. Even the cheapest X3 “G45” will ride on an 18-inch set. We’ve been told the tires have been specifically ..read more

Every few years, BMW will give us an insight into what their brand will look like in the future. Sometimes, as BMW enthusiasts, we get a little worried. Like many, sometimes I have gotten a little worried about some of BMW’s designs. Unlike some brands, Bayerische Motoren Werke does not stray away from being bold (for better or worse). This week for the North American market, BMW premiered the Vision Neue Klasse X, their futuristic concept car for what the brand’s electric SUVs may soon look like. Rest assured, this new vision concept brought about some great news: It looks great and its got s ..read more

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X is the second showing of the upcoming new family of electric cars in Munich. After the sedan Vision Neue Klasse debuted last fall, it was now time for the Bavarians to highlight the future of their popular SUV lineup. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X not only previews the upcoming 2026 BMW iX3, but also an entire suite of crossovers which will share several design elements. Essentially, the Neue Klasse X is a design canvas for other products which even though might not look identical, they will unmistakably be part of the same family.

The battle between an M3 and a C63 isn’t what it used to be. BMW still sells its sports sedan with rear-wheel drive and a manual gearbox but the C63 is an all-wheel-drive- and automatic-only affair. The differences between the two extend to the engine. The M sedan retains its inline-six whereas its AMG rival has lost the V8 in exchange for a plug-in hybrid four-cylinder.
US pricing for the 2024 C63 is finally out, revealing another discrepancy. Mercedes is charging $85,050, including the $1,150 for destination and handling fees. That makes it $8,055 costlier than the base M3. Comparing it to t ..read more
