Beach Finds – Mid May
One Hundred Dollars a Month

Miss Lucy and I have managed to make it to the beach every day since we’ve been here. And let me tell you, it feels SO NICE to be able to go walking again everyday and see to new things.  Lucy is LOVING it. She’s been sleeping really well too and I’m hoping that by taking her on long walks everyday, it will help her shed a few pounds. She’s gotten to be a little overweight {no thanks to the HH always slipping her extra bites} and she could stand to slim down a bit. One of the interesting parts about being able to visit a sandy beach every day though, are all the things th ..read more

How To Get Free Pots For Plants –  Yesterday morning I was out walking Lucy and I kid you not, I spied a beautiful terra cotta pot just sitting there alongside the road! It was like the universe was trying to tell me something. It was crazy. I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but the month of May is the BEST time of the year to score free containers for your gardens. Think about it, people are shopping like mad this time of year for plants. All those plants come in containers! So keep your eyes peeled!!! Seriously, you’ll be surprised at what you can find along ..read more

What A Weird Week!

Market Basket $ 40.07 What a weird week! Moving, and trying to get settled after moving is not the easiest thing on the planet. Especially when you have a dog and an Etsy shop with orders to stay on top of.   Plus, staying in an Airbnb while waiting for just the right house to pop up can be a bit stressful too. We do have a full kitchen though, so I shouldn’t be stressing about meals, right? But it’s sooo easy to fall into the take out food trap. Especially since we were in an area with NO real fast food options before we moved. Everything is magical and so close, it ..read more

Eat More Fruits and Vegetables I told the HH that we’ve GOT TO make more of an effort to eat more fruits and veggies! But with moving, traveling and everything still up in the air, it’s been sort of hard to make it a priority. Gaa. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. It’s an excuse, I know. Visit 24 {new} Bakeries / Coffee Shops Farine bakery and cafe was fantastic! I wish I could have tried everything on their menu. We are nearly halfway through the year and I still have 18 bakeries/coffee shops to visit if I am going to check this baby off my list! Gaaa. New Bakeries ..read more

Costco Hanging Baskets And Flowers
One Hundred Dollars a Month

If you’re in the market for flowers and you have a Costco nearby, you might want to pop by because the selection of Costco hanging baskets and flowers is pretty plentiful right now.  At least here in Maine it is. Whoa Nelli! If only I had a garden right now, I would have filled a couple of carts full. I snapped a few photos for you in case you wanted to do a little “window shopping” before you head on down there.  Usually this time of year I see blueberry bushes and barefoot trees, but maybe I missed those this year?  Who knows… I think there was a really nice se ..read more

Farine Bakery & Café
One Hundred Dollars a Month

Last weekend I hopped a flight to visit my mom for mother’s day. It was short and sweet and full of food. Really, really good food. I was only there for about 48 hours but the morning after I arrived I went out for an early morning walk and stumbled upon Farine Bakery and Café and decided to pop in and have a look. I LOVE it when that happens!!! You’re just walking along and all the sudden you see people walking out of a place with pastry boxes and you’re like… Whoa Nelli, I need to go and see what this is about. It’s always a good sign when you walk into a bakery and you can ..read more

How to Store Sweaters And Other Winter Clothing
One Hundred Dollars a Month

Now that the weather has warmed up for good, I thought I would share my tried and true tips on how to store sweaters and other winter clothing. I don’t know about you, but I love having only what I need in my closet! I like to store the off-season stuff, one to keep it from getting moth ridden and dusty from want of use. And two, because I don’t want to have to flip through it to get to the stuff that I am actually going to wear.  My #1 Tip: I always wash everything before I store it. That way, when I pull it out on a crisp fall day, I can just put it right on.  Wash ..read more

It’s Been A Very Busy Last Few Weeks
One Hundred Dollars a Month

It’s been a very busy last few weeks, and as a result, we haven’t been eating really well. Mainly take out and whatever random bits there were to use up. Luckily though, those days are behind us. That is, until we find a new place and it’s time to move in.  House hunting.. It’s hard! Especially when there’s not a whole lot on the market and everything gets snatched up quickly. It’s like you literally have to refresh the real estate listings every hour of every day and then drop everything and do a drive by.  Not that anything has popped up yet. And quite honestly, with our track rec ..read more

Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Now that things have calmed down a bit {except for the fact that we are living in an airbnb} I can work on eating better rather than having to eat what’s convenient. Big salads… Here I come! Visit 24 {new} Bakeries / Coffee Shops Finally! I found another bakery worth talking about. Why is it so hard to find a bakery that makes their food from scratch these days? I’ll share more about my new find in a few days. New Bakeries / Coffee Shops I’ve Been To This Year: Ritual Bakehouse and Patisserie Caramel Patisserie Standard Baking Co.  Saltwater ..read more

What We’re Looking For This Time Around
One Hundred Dollars a Month

So, we sold our house. Furnished. {!!!} Because that’s what people do up here in Maine when they live on the coast. People from away want to buy the whole kit and kaboodle. And so that’s what we did {even the linens and silverware!}. It was sort of strange, but liberating too.  Fact: We are simply at a different chapter in our life. And the bottom line is, we don’t need much.  Short of an apartment in a big city, or in a commune, I think we’ve pretty much lived in every type of house {mobile home, tract home, homes in a HOA neighborhood, house in a walking downtown, o ..read more
