Macro lighting setup for This cool Berry shot.

Hello. I'm trying to figure out how this image was lit and possibly some incite into post if it was a heavy grade. It seems like there is a strong back right edge and then some large soft source in front camera left. I tried to do something similar (with very limited resources in comparison i'm sure) which is below the first image. I had 2 10x10" Westcotts. One  that was reasonably close as a key from camera left just in front and the other as a back edge camera right. So much feels off about my shot.  Because of how close my key is, you can see all the pings in each berry cell but mostly its ..read more

Hi everyone, I was on a shoot the other day and the Alexa Mini, was set up to record 24fps, however the project settings were left at 25fps. The director is Keane tokeep the music video at 24 fps to match play back and the time code. We also shot some slow mo at 36fps that he would like to keep to sync up. Im wondering if there was any way to get the footage back to 24fps? Any help would be greatly appreciated ..read more

Bargain buy....so far

Hello all, I recently bought a CP-16R off a popular auction site for a steal, less then $250! I thought it would go for much more, sweet lens but no battery or charger , and as I am yet to collect and inspect the camera, no idea if it works, but for less than $250 a wee bit of TLC might solve any issues. I have do e a little research and it seems the camera certainly may have some foibles, but I love to tinker, and I have a mate who is a borderline genius who loves old electronics and solving problems, seems a match made in heaven. Seems every CP-16 should have an electronics guru in thei ..read more

Hi!   Since now I was just working with practicals, "being lucky" to catch the light. I want to change this and learn more about diffusion and control of the light, things like position, distance and specifically kind of fabrics like: silk, muslim, grid cloth and all this stuff.   Any links, articles or books to get really deep in this topic?   Another question is about a lighting setup from one of my favorites commercial DOP (Khalid Mohtaseb), I do really love his work and his treatment of the light. Any insights on how he achieved this light?     Attached Images ..read more

Negative Super 8 stock is radically improved over past iterations in terms of grain. Check out this trailer by Emil Ink for Twobolts Pictures'  crime comedy, "The Heist".   (Warning: dialogue is not family friendly)       Emil shot the picture with 23 rolls of fresh new Kodak Vision3 50D and 2 rolls of fresh new Kodak Vision3 200T, avoiding old stock and it looks great! Processed at Spectra in North Hollywood and scanned by Gamma Ray Digital, this trailer can be viewed at 2K on Vimeo.   BTS: https://www.facebook.com/TBfilms1/videos/1773846159552569/   Other behind the scenes photo ..read more

Hi,   I was browsing through different online shops for some bargain split diopters (a set of filters, 77 or 82mm), but I haven't found anything reliable yet. I don't have the budget to spend on new filters for 200+ dollars. Does anybody know where can I get used, cheap and sharp split diopters?   Any help would be appreciated ..read more

Which 2 of these 3 shots cut?

Shooting a short film today and myself and the director disagreed about which shoulder we should come over when looking at the phone to match the wider shot. So we shot both.   I think the matching shots are 1 and 3. The 'line of action' is between the girl and her phone, and by coming over her right shoulder to look down at the phone we don't cross that line.   Who was right? I'm still nowhere near as good about this stuff as I should be. Any links to resources would be appreciated. Thanks. Attached Images ..read more
