April 26 – The Spanish government has formed a special committee to oversee the country’s football federation (RFEF) until the governing body holds fresh elections following the scandal surrounding its former president, Luis Rubiales. Rubiales was arrested earlier this month as part of a corruption and money laundering investigation and is separately due to go on trial over the infamous ‘kissgate’ scandal involving Spanish World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso. April 26 – A record 35 nations have expressed interest in competing in the 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U15 Championship to be held in August 5-11. The fifth edition of the competition will be split into three leagues hosted in three countries. Costa Rica will host League A, Trinidad and Tobago will host League B and Ariba will host League C. April 25 – For the first time English Premier League clubs are set to discuss a hard salary cap at their next shareholders meeting on Monday but the proposal is likely to face strong opposition. April 25 – Manchester City have agreed a multi-year partnership with digital collectible business Quidd, a subsidiary of Animoca brands, who first partnered with the treble winners in December 2020. April 25 – Chairman of Belgian club Union Saint-Gillloise Alex Muzio has been elected the president of the Union of European Clubs (UEC) with co-founders Dennis Gudasic and Gareth Farrelly elected to other key roles.  On Wednesday, the UEC staged their first general assembly with over 80 clubs in attendance, a year after its birth.
