I am a massive fan of liquid sparkly makeup and two days before receiving my LE eye shadows, enthused by the holiday spirit, I shot a roundup of some of my favorite sparkly shimmery eye shadows. It didn't end well. My eyes have been itchy, watery, sore since, and the reel I shot didn't get saved. But I DID get some pretty pictures out of that exercise which had everyone DMing me about the eye shadow details. About the Lisa Eldridge Liquid Lurex eye shadows (from the website) These easy-to-use eye embellishments will see you through the party season and beyond. With a flattering formula that is ..read more

Black on Black #OOTD

Black on black is a classic! Whether its a black top on a black skirt, or a nicely fitted black shirt with crisp trousers. There are several ways to make a black on black outfit interesting! In this outfit, I'm wearing an off-shoulder black crop top with a pleated, flared skirt (both from H&M). The fitted bodice of the top on the waist creates a flattering shape and the flared skirt looks dressy while being comfortable at the same time! I kept it classic with the accessories, a pair of simple gold hoops, black heels and a bamboo bag that I picked up from a street market in Bali! What do y ..read more

Shining in Yellow #OOTD

My team and I took a memorable trip to Goa a few months ago; it was an ambitious project for us, self-funded (no sponsors), with a photographer, planning to shoot lots of outfit posts and swimwear, a first for me! One of my favourite looks from this trip turned out to be this breezy yellow dress which I picked up from a local boutique @theflamestore. I usually shy away from a dress that is unstructured or 'breezy' but this was actually super flattering and incredibly comfortable! It was such a warm day, the view from @titliegoa was stunning and the food was mouthwateringly good! Its winter ti ..read more

Ditching the Red for Smokey Pinks this Valentine's Day!

Every year I look at doing Valentine's day looks and a red lip is an obvious choice that comes to mind. This year, I've decided to ditch the red for smokey, multi-dimensional pinks. This is one of my favourite looks that I've done recently. It's soft, yet glamorous and it plays up the eyes, much sexier in my opinion than a bold lip as we communicate so much with our eyes! Hope you enjoy the tutorial ♥️ https://youtu.be/cumeuXfvY8w ..read more

As someone who has struggled with depression through most of my adult life, I know how painful that loss of VITALITY feels, how hard it is to communicate to those around you how hollow and hopeless you feel every day. To anyone else like me going through this, please don’t try to do it all alone. TAKE HELP, take support. This illness alienates you from people around you, but it’s very treatable. You are human, experiencing human things. Let’s normalise the conversation around mental health, that’s the only way we break the stigma, the shame around depression Say the word, accept that you’re n ..read more

Does size REALLY matter?

Let’s talk about clothing and SIZES. I started putting on weight in my teens due to PCOD (undiagnosed at the time). I would usually wear an L or XL and many brands didn’t carry big enough sizes, so I did not buy ready-made clothes. Instead, I wore stitched salwar suits all the time till my late teens. Once I lost weight, I started fitting into an M or an S, my jeans size was 28 and I FELT SO GOOD ABOUT MYSELF. I gained weight again in the next few years, with depression, PCOD, an abusive relationship, staying fit seemed an uphill task and frankly, not a priority. not my highest priority. Gain ..read more

Swimwear Look #1 for Curvy Women

ve never felt more comfortable in my skin, with my weight, my tummy, my blessed thighs, the cellulite, the stretch marks, than now. And the shift has been completely internal. The softness of the female form was celebrated in ancient cultures, as evident in paintings and sculptures. It’s in modern times that we’ve completely distorted our perceptions of beauty and set unrealistic expectations for women to fulfil when it comes to appearance. It’s taken me over a decade to unpack layers of social conditioning and what it means to be beautiful! Here I am celebrating my curves and proud of everyt ..read more

This is one of my favourite looks from our wedding lookbook shoot back in November in Mumbai. I've always loved black, much to my mother's chagrin I always wanted to pick a black kurta to wear for festivities. Traditionally, white and black would be considered 'ashubh' colors to wear for 'shubh' occasions but I think perceptions are shifting now. What do you think? Styling : @nakhrevakhre@amritasaluja01 Assisted by: @stylebysimranarora Black lehenga: @nakhrevakhre Jewelry: @rimayu07 Shot by @piyush_tanpure Hair @simua_996 I would absolutely want to wear this for a cocktail or reception! Fatphobia and Fat-shaming on Social Media
Corallista

My biggest fear when I first experienced weight gain was the fat-phobia on social media. I’ve been creating content for 10 years and having gone through my turbulent twenties; 8 years of an abusive relationship, leaving a traditional career path to start all by myself in a new industry, moving countries twice, struggling with PCOD, endometriosis and depression, eventually a divorce, OF COURSE, my body has changed over 10 years! I’m no stranger to fat-phobic and fat-shaming comments thrown my way. Fat-phobia is an irrational fear of being fat or being around fat people. Fat shaming is viewing ..read more

Why I no longer make New Year Resolutions
Corallista

I’ve never been able to keep up resolutions beyond February, but setting intentions and focusing on values has helped me stay grounded and aligned with what I want to achieve with each year! And you can then consciously make an effort you channel these intentions and values as much as possible. This approach helps in building habits that serve you rather than focus on a time-bound goal (what happens once the goal is met?). Habits stay forever whilst goals are short-term. What habits and values does 2022 (future) Ankita have? I’m listing down 3 values and with everything I do, I will try and i ..read more
