Alaskan Princess Cruises for families

I’m aboard the Discovery Princess Cruise Ship, gliding through the icy waters of Alaska’s Inside Passage, and I’m trying to decide between oatmeal raisin pancakes, vanilla waffles, an Asian congee, or a hot breakfast with the works including “biscuits” (like a savoury scone) and gravy.  These are just a few of the vast array of breakfast options at the World Fresh Marketplace buffet, which is my first port of call on this leisurely sea day itinerary. After perusing the buffet for some time, I opt for scrambled eggs with freshly baked bread, washed down with a tropical fruit smoothie. Ch ..read more

Indigenous art walking tours Brisbane
Be A Fun Mum

Brisbane is an Olympic-dreaming city with an ancient past. Long before high-rise buildings dotted the city skyline or chic alfresco cafes spilled over the banks of the Brisbane River, the Indigenous Turrbal and Yuggera people inhabited the land and developed a fascinating artistic, musical and cultural heritage that endures today. Australia’s Indigenous population are recognised as having the oldest ongoing tradition of art in the world, and in Meanjin (Brisbane), there’s plenty of new talent keeping this custom alive. But it’s not all to be found within the four walls of a gallery. Instead, a ..read more

Fairy Garden

Over the years, I’ve done various kinds of magical project with the kids. From setting up play scenes in an underbed storage container, makeing paddle pop stick doors to stick on trees, adding a miniature tyre rope swing for toys to a tree, setting up a little fairy scene using a fairy door, shells and stones, and making a twig ladder. Since my kids were in primary school (quite a long time ago now!) there has been an explosion of cool items you can create a fairy garden outside for the kids. They are so sweet, and it’s the sort of project where you can start small and just add to them as ..read more

My sister and I went on a little road trip last year. We both had our kids during our 20s, so now in our 40s, we have adult children and these types of trips are becoming possible. We had THE BEST time! Our itinerary was pretty flexible, but we ended up finding the best little spots. I thought I would share our itinerary incase anyone was interested in some of the spots we found. Brisbane We both live in Brisbane, so this was our starting point. Mooball Post Office We stopped at a little place on the coast called Mooball. It’s a cute little town, with some of the utility poles with cow patter ..read more

Tips for Buying and Selling Second Hand Items or New Items Online & Making it Your Side Hustle

My name is Sharron and I’d like to share my passion for buying and selling second hand and new items online. For me, it’s like having an online antique/speciality shop, where I am able to find items that people often have hunted high and low for and connect them to new happy owners. I am also sought out as an agent for finding hard-to-find things for people with specialised requests, because I know where to look. Now we have the capacity to do trading online, it really has opened up this avenue, so items aren’t just limited to chance and location and if you are lucky enough to pop into a secon ..read more

This post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission of any purchase made, with no extra cost to you. It helps me with the running costs of this website. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been trying different dry shampoos to find one that I like. I really, REALLY like dry shampoo. My hair is oily, so I need to use dry shampoo between washes to take out that greasy look from the top of my head. I’m also a brunette, so I tend to look for brunette versions of dry shampoo, but I find if the dry shampoo is good, it will integrate into the hair well, regardless if there is a b ..read more

Fun Games to Play in the Pool
Be A Fun Mum

For most Australians, having a pool or being near one is essential, especially during the hotter months. I remember when I was younger, we’d play many types of pool games, whether it be Marco Polo or even diving/jumping competitions. With some help from the BAFM community, I’ve compiled the best 10 pool games to play.  1. Marco Polo Probably One of the most iconic pool games (and perhaps the most annoying). To play you need a group of people, one person the finder has to close their eyes and search around the pool to find other players. For the finder to catch a person they will need to ..read more

We have a few extra weeks before school starts this year in Queensland due the ongoing COVID situation. I am looking forward to getting back into more of a routine again, however it has been nice to have less pressure to do all the back to school stuff I usually need to do. Team at Skobi I have two children still at school this year, and they both need new school shoes. I am pleased to be supporting an Aussie/Brisbane business, Skobi Shoes this year. The shoes are locally designed by Paediatric Podiatrists in Brisbane who specialise in developing shoes that are comfy, supportive, and elegantl ..read more
