We spent the day at Acadia National Park today … just too gorgeous to even try to describe! We’d visited the park on our first trip to Bar Harbor … which was probably close to 14 years ago and it was great to go back with the boys. My husband drew me a heart in the sand! If I’m lucky I’ll have many, many more years with him ..read more

One of the reasons we love Maine so much is that Keith’s father and his family are from here. During my genealogy research, I found out that his great grandmother and her family were from the Bar Harbor area and that makes it special to us too. Today we drove up from Portland along the coast and arrived late afternoon. The Inn we’re staying at is right on the water and near the Inn we stayed at 14 or so years ago … The Maine coast is just so beautiful. And who better to share it with than my 3 guys ..read more

After a rather long layover at LaGuardia, we arrived in Maine! We had a few challenges at the Delta Sky club lounge at LaGuardia but worked through it and the Delta employee that helped us was amazing….she helped us through the admission to the club and THEN brought us all champagne to celebrate our anniversary trip!! The flight attendant was also wonderful … and brought us big snack bags … of course, I might have shown both women this photo of us taken 35 years ago ..read more

My mind is filled with thoughts of Mom and our anniversary trip with the boys … and what did I come across today? A photo of Mom taken with the boys right before the wedding 35 years ago! I’ve got two suitcases packed … one for Maine and one for Virginia. I’m going to fly right back to Virginia after the Maine trip … I won’t even come home, I’ll just spend the night at the airport hotel and get back on a plane. Finn is all packed for boarding … Keith will pick him up after the Maine trip. I started a new scarf to take with me. The other one isn’t done yet but I’m afraid it won’t last me 2 wee ..read more

I’m home but for just 2 days … then I’ll head out for our Anniversary Trip to Maine … and then right back to Virginia to see Mom. I mentioned that there won’t be any piecing or quilting in the next few weeks but luckily I have lots of yarn to keep me busy. I know most of my visitors are quilters but some of you crochet and knit. Do you use Ravelry.com? I find it a great place to keep track of all my yarny projects – both works in progress and finished ones and since I repeat a lot of projects it’s helpful to have my notes about them easy to access. It’s also a great resource for finding new p ..read more

I drove up from Georgia on Sunday to visit/help Mom and it’s been busy but now she’s home from the hospital and we have a quiet day together before I leave so I pulled out my knitting. Mo fusses at me for having too much yarn and just like with fabric, if I’m buying yarn without a specific pattern in mind, I always make sure I have plenty so I end up with extra skeins/balls of yarn. I’ve been making some scarves from the leftovers and I’ve got one in progress now. This is a simple garter stitch diagonal knit scarf and I’m liking how it’s turning out in these colors. You can find the free patte ..read more
