Random: We're In Awe of Metaphor: ReFantazio's Box Art

Princely. There's nothing quite like video game box art that makes you stop and say "wow". Admittedly, it's been a while since such a cover caught our eye, but we simply can't gawk at the newly revealed box art for Metaphor: ReFantazio and not write an article about it. The upcoming RPG looks to be a stunner in terms of art direction, and the cover gives you a taste of that before you even get started. It features gorgeous character-focused art, and although we still think the name 'Metaphor: ReFantazio' is a bit... overwrought, we can't argue with the logo, which is striking. Part of patch 3.2 out now. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been updated to support a new graphical mode running at 40 frames-per-second while boasting higher resolutions. Available to download now on PS5 as part of patch 3.2, the mode can be used on 4K TVs that support up to 120Hz. Prior to this, Avatar PS5 only had Quality and Performance Modes, but this new option looks to feature the best of both worlds after the 2.4GB download. Despite being fairly sought after by the hardcore community, 40fps modes have been a rarity throughout the PS5 era. Insomniac Games essentially introduced them wit ..read more

Push Square
by

Gotta go fast again. Rumblings of a follow-up to SEGA's Sonic Frontiers are currently doing the rounds. Referred to simply as Sonic Frontiers 2, a couple of known leakers have said the project is currently in development. First, X user Daniel Richtman shared a post with his Patreon followers claiming the open zone platformer sequel is in the works. Shortly after, another insider, Midori, corroborated the rumour, simply stating that it's "correct information". They followed this up with slightly more context, saying the game is a sequel "in gameplay style", and may not necessarily be called Fro ..read more

What's old is new again. The name Infogrames will ring a bell for many gamers out there; the name appeared on many popular titles on pretty much every platform. Now, the brand is making a comeback. Atari has announced the revival of Infogrames as a new publishing label. It'll publish and distribute games "that fall outside the core portfolio of IP associated with the Atari brand". The webpage also tells us it'll be managing its catalogue "by expanding digital and physical distribution", as well as developing "new collections and sequels". Game preservation is also a "core component of its miss ..read more

"What’s going on CERO?". Just yesterday, we brought you word that the upcoming PS5 exclusive, Stellar Blade, would be released in all regions entirely uncensored, including Japan, which developer ShiftUp seemed especially pleased with. An executive at Electronic Arts Japan has called out what they see as a double standard with the Japanese Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO), stating that "I find this hard to accept." In a post on Twitter, EA Japan general manager Shaun Noguchi addressed the rating board in a refreshingly frank fashion, outraged that Dead Space would be refused c ..read more

Shift Up Reveals 'Secrets' of Stellar Blade's Physical PS5 Packaging

We're not complaining. It seems we aren't the only ones counting down the hours until the release of the PS5-exclusive Stellar Blade. Developer Shift Up has posted an impossibly drawn-out clip of the "secrets" contained within the game's PS5 physical box, which, as far as we can tell, amounts to a reversible cover/dust jacket and a download code for some cosmetic goodies. Don't get us wrong; the variant cover, in particular, is certainly appreciated and perhaps even preferable to the game's standard art, just not something we'd generally consider a "secret". Regardless, the cool part is that S ..read more

Billie Eilish Takes to Fortnite Festival Main Stage, Seemingly Confirming Leaked Roadmap

Billie Bossa Nova. The Bad Guy herself, Billie Eilish, will be the next musical megastar to grace the Fortnite Festival mainstage, following in the footsteps of Lady Gaga and The Weeknd. Eilish revealed she will take the stage today, 23rd April, presumably with a list of free-to-player bangers. Eilish's inclusion is incredible enough in its own right, but things get really interesting because it appears to corroborate a previously leaked roadmap for the game (thanks, VGC). If that set list is anything to go by, then expect to see the musical stylings of Metallica, Karol G, and Snoop Dogg to fo ..read more
