For this edition of Classic Steel, we are going to take a look back at Honda’s all-new 2000 XR650R. Honda’s all-new XR650R was not the WR426F competitor some had hoped for, but for XR enthusiasts it offered the reliability, quality, comfort, and performance the big red thumpers had become legendary for. Photo Credit: Honda In 2000, Honda set about replacing one of the most successful and iconic off-road machines of all time. Originally introduced in 1979 as the XR500, Honda’s big-bore four-stroke quickly became the preferred machine of desert rats and off-road four-stroke enthusiasts. The bi ..read more

Optional Renthal Handlebar Bends/Recommendations For Your Bike/Size

When it comes to handlebars, it is very particular between each rider. However, I have and still am a big pain in the butt with a rider triangle. The height, width, rise, and position is very important to me between each bike that I test/ride. I find that you can’t run the same handlebar bend on every bike, even though I like a bend on one bike, sometimes it doesn’t feel as good on another. Every bike has a different rider triangle so sometimes you must adapt to different bar bends if you change motorcycle brands. As the years progress, dirt bikes evolve as well as their dimensions so don’t be ..read more

Super Stats: Single Season Laps Led Records and How 2024 Compares (So Far)
PulpMX | All Things Matthes

Jett Lawrence has led 181 out of the 394 total laps so far in the 15 rounds of the 2024 Supercross season. This is good for 45.94%.  This is a very impressive rate on its own and especially as a rookie and with the other competition that has remained healthy. So how does this compare historically? Unfortunately, we can only go back to 2003, as this is when laps led data is publicly available back to. However, we have over 20 years of seasons to compare to (but again we can’t compare to the McGrath era or early Carmichael premier class years). The comparison is based on laps led percentage ..read more

It’s crunch time and the points leaders in both classes are feeling the pressure as the championships come down to the wire. With Philly being a new venue, there isn’t a lot of notes these teams can take down for spec reference so getting these bikes dialed in for the type of conditions they faced is tough. However, from what I was told by a couple team managers was that the track didn’t break down as bad as they thought it would. The 250 class was a fun one to watch while the 450 class wasn’t quite as good. Here are some notes from the city of brotherly love. Chase Sexton: Looks like Chase’s ..read more

RJ Hampshire had himself a weekend! Coming into Nashville where we had an East/West 250 showdown, RJ Hampshire was down double digits but whern the checkers waved, he was in control of the points lead. He joins us to talk about the weekend and of course, making Phil Nicoletti mad. Evan Ferry and Triumph cycles have agreed to part ways. It’s a wild turn of events early in their relationship, so we had Evan on to talk about it from his perspective. Filthy announced his retirement from racing at the end of the ’24 season and he’s on to keep us up to date on how the farewell tour is shaping up. L ..read more

Nashville! Cowboy hats. Bars. Bridal showers. Live music. This is what I think about when it comes to Nashville. However, we had Supercross blow into town on Saturday and it got crazy with crashes, East/West Showdowns, stuck throttles, blown shocks and lots more, so let’s dive in. J Lawrence: Looks like Jett had something to prove and it showed as he pulled out eight seconds on a absolutely crazy fast looking Tomac. Jett never did anything crazy and it looked like he was taking his time once again, but if you go bak and watch the race again, watch how he makes time in corners, especially the ..read more

“Maxxis Tires” – Classic Ink #58 “1980 Suzuki MX and Off-Road Lineup”
PulpMX | All Things Matthes
by Tony Blazier

For this edition of Classic Ink, we are going to take a look back at ads for Suzuki’s 1980 motocross and off-road lineup. Suzuki had an extensive lineup of entry-level racers in 1980 with the RM60, RM80, and RM100. The RM80 still lives on in the form of the RM85, but the 60 and 100 have long since been committed to the annuls of motocross history. In the seventies, both Suzuki and Yamaha produced machines for the 100 class but by the early eighties, interest in the class had waned to the point that both manufacturers stopped their production. Today Suzuki seems to be at a crossroads in their ..read more
