Quick thoughts from South Florida Sun Sentinel staffers on the Miami Dolphins‘ selection of edge rusher Chop Robinson in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.
Chris Perkins, Dolphins Columnist
I like the selection of an edge rusher. This is a solid pick, but unspectacular. Chop Robinson is regarded as someone with a quick first step but his immediate impact remains a question. Still, Miami needed an edge rusher and it got one. No argument here.

MIAMI GARDENS — The last two first-round picks for the Miami Dolphins have now been pass rushers.
The Dolphins selected Penn State edge defender Chop Robinson with the No. 21 pick in Thursday’s first round.
It was the first time they picked in the draft’s opening round in three years, the last being Jaelan Phillips, the former Miami Hurricane edge rusher who was the Dolphins’ selection with the No. 18 pick in 2021 after they picked wide receiver Jaylen Waddle at 6 that year.

The Orlando Magic are a young team.
With an old soul.
Their character, wisdom, heart and poise belies their age.
This uncommon maturity — along with a loud, proud home crowd at Kia Center — is why I believe the Magic got up off the deck after two horrid offensive performances in Games 1 and 2 in their playoff series with Cleveland and blew the Cavaliers off the court, 121-83, on Thursday night.
The Magic annihilated them offensively.
Dominated them defensively.
Controlled them on the boards.
Beat them by 38.
Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got ourselves a series.

The slogan on Jalen Suggs‘ shirt said it all Thursday.
“Seek discomfort.”
The Cavaliers experienced plenty.
Trailing 0-2 in the first-round series between the Nos. 4 and 5 seeds in the East entering, Orlando looked anything but uncomfortable from start to finish in its first home playoff game since 2019 inside an electric Kia Center.
Suggs (24 points) helped lift the Magic alongside Paolo Banchero (31) and Franz Wagner (16) as the trio led Orlando to a 121-83 blowout. Game 4 is here Saturday.
The victory marks Orlando’s first playoff home win since 2011 (vs. Atlanta).
Not only did the Magic fi ..read more

The opening weeks of the 2024 season could hardly have gone better for the Orlando Pride.
One of only three unbeaten teams in NWSL, they have a chance to continue that streak Friday night in the nation’s capital.
The Pride (2-0-3, 9 points) take on the Washington Spirit (4-1-0, 12 points) at Audi Field.
Orlando’s last match against San Diego was a fine display of technical prowess and on-field dominance. The Pride have looked stronger as the season progresses, and they have still yet to field their best starting lineup.
The Spirit, however, sit second on the table and will be a serious test ..read more

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. is expected to announce Friday that it will provide about $6 billion in long-term military aid to Ukraine, U.S. officials said, adding that it will include much sought after munitions for Patriot air defense systems.
The officials said the aid package will be funded through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which pays for longer-term contracts with the defense industry and means that it could take many months or years for the weapons to arrive. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details not yet ma ..read more
