As of July 1, 2024, the Kentucky Medical Cannabis program is accepting business applications for dispensary, cultivator, and safety compliance facility licenses. Cities across Kentucky are preparing for Senate Bill 47 to take effect on January 1, 2025. A key part of preparation is deciding where medical marijuana businesses will be located. As Kentucky heads towards legalization of medical marijuana in 2025, the U.S. Drug and Enforcement Agency (DEA) is debating rescheduling marijuana as a less dangerous substance.
