Welcome to my stop in the Reflections Blog Hop, be sure to visit all participants for inspiration, and a few giveaways including the host. Reflections is a new Island Batik collection designed by Jennifer Fulton of The Inquiring Quilter. Those greens, how did I not throw some green in there! Thank you Jennifer for the opportunity to work with such rich, vibrant fabrics, they are more beautiful in person. Often times images you see on your computer screen do not reflect the true colors of fabric. Indoor lighting and even monitors change its appearance, here’s an example. This holds true wit ..read more

Round 2 Welcome to Round 2 of the Saint Paddy Sew Along. For this round you will cut/piece strips for your inside border. Island Batik fabric does not have a 1/2″ selvage on both sides, I only had to cut my strips, no piecing. For this round I will not give cutting dimensions in the post, you will find them in the download. Attaching borders After cutting and/or piecing your inside border strips: Find and mark the center of each strip. I find it easier to fold your strip in half and press a seam. Match the strip center and the center of your medallion side. Pin or glue baste in place. Match ..read more

What’s under my foot Welcome back to another Put your foot down, I hope you were able to sew something this past week. It’s supposed to be spring here and I am ready to plant something outside. Before doing that I’d really like to see what existing plants are here. Early spring grape hyacinth began popping up every where in the yard, I can picture Miss Emma (the previous owner) walking around and planting the tiny bulbs. Narcissus in white and yellow line the ..read more

This month Island Batik teamed up with Funky Friends Factory to challenge the Island Batik Ambassadors. We were allowed to choose a pattern for the softie and I chose Crocodile Steve. This has been both fun and challenging. Challenging because there are a lot of curved pieces in this pattern and fun because it brought back happy times of my son growing up while stitching. My son loved most documentary type television shows geared towards children, Kratts’ Creatures and anything animal related He also loved anything that had to do with paleontology. He was even invited down into the dig site ..read more

What’s under my foot Put your foot down 232, a weekly linky party every Thursday. Stop by and share your WIP’s, UFO’s, finishes, or any fiber arts projects. No photo overload today. This week I have been working on a secret sewing project for Jennifer’s (Inquiriing Quilter) upcoming fabric collection with Island Batik. No sharing yet, but I think sometime at the end of April you may start seeing sneak peeks. It is definitely one collection of fabric that online swatches do no justice. When I chose the fabrics I had a design in mind. After they arrived, seeing how beautiful they really are, ano ..read more
