What about A Chapter a Day? Across the months since I announced in April 2023 that it was time for the search for my successor to begin, one of the most often asked questions has been: “Once you retire, what will happen to A Chapter a Day?” Before I answer this frequently asked question, let’s ask and answer at least two more questions. When and how did A Chapter a Day begin? At the Lord’s prompting, I began to offer the daily A Chapter a Day emails in March 2016. By the Lord’s grace, and with the help of my proofreader (my wife, Beverly), A Chapter a Day has been written, proofed, and posted ..read more

Let’s Honor Our Mothers I hope you are planning to join us for worship at Ingleside this Sunday, May 12, on Mother’s Day. It was only in 1914, at the urging of President Woodrow Wilson, that Congress passed a resolution establishing the second Sunday of May as Mother’s Day. According to history.com, “In his first Mother’s Day proclamation, Wilson stated that the holiday offered a chance to ‘[publicly express] our love and reverence for the mothers of our country.’” Of course, the notion that we should ..read more

Worthy of Double Honor Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. (I Timothy 5:17, ESV)   Our pastor and friend, Tim McCoy, will retire in a little over two months. I know you want to encourage him and Beverly as they enter this new season, so be sure to read below to see three ways to do so.  Tim’s ministry can hardly be summed up in a few words, but as I consider the impact the Lord has had through him across almost thirty-five years, I think you’ll agree he has:  Faithfully preached and taught ..read more

The Exchange Zone In a 4×100 meter relay race, one of the most exciting events in a track and field meet, each of the four runners must complete their leg of the race successfully for their team to win. Especially critical are the baton passes from one runner to the next. The three baton passes must occur in clearly marked 20-meter segments called exchange zones. At Ingleside, we are currently in just such an exchange zone. With Pastor Justin’s election as our next Lead Pastor on March 10 and with Easter now in the rearview mirror, the three-month period of April through June is our exchange z ..read more
