The Ultimate Little Boys' Room Makeover: Tips and Tricks to Fuse, Form, and Function

Since finding out that we are expecting our second son I have been designing and planning for a new little boys' room. Our son Callan is almost 3 and certainly has out grown his nursery and is ready to hand it over to his baby brother. This meant moving Callan into a new room, and of course I had to redesign it completely. What was once our guest room and second largest bedroom is the victim to being newly designed. But being who we are it wasn't just some new paint and decor, it was a full gut and renovation. Our home is over 120 years old and with each room we completely renovate it to give ..read more

Orzo Tomato Basil Soup

With the nights dropping in temps I am gravitating toward warm comfort dishes like this soup! Warm up with this easy, no immersion blender necessary, tomato soup! Finished in about 50 minutes you'll enjoy a creamy tomato soup with bits of orzo to fill you up! Guarantee to make the whole house smell delicious, this is one of my favorite go to recipes on those chilly fall evenings. Notes: I use white onion, feel free to use yellow. I chop mine very very finely because I am not a huge fan of large chunks of onion in my soup. I use dried basil out of convenience, feel free to use fresh basil, cho ..read more

Take a step back today. Look at all those beautiful things you have. Happy November! What a great quote to start off November, the month of gratitude and giving thanks. I think with the holidays on the horizon its easy to get lost in all the things we "want" and all the things we "dont have" and I am talking materialistic. But, when we really do take a step back we can see all the beautiful things we already have. Adjusting your perspective is so good for the mind and soul. Check in with where you are and how you are feeding your mind. Give thanks for your health, your mind and all those who s ..read more

Truly one of the most magical photography sessions I've ever had. It was well worth the early morning wake up call and sleepy eyes. Cait, our photographer, had a vision and executed it perfectly. She captured the sweetest moments of our family. The tones, the wind and over all feeling of these photos is exactly what I have always wanted! I told her, these are photos I typically pin on Pinterest except it is of us! She sent me a gallery of over 200 photos and it really is so difficult to choose my favorites but for the sake of this post I tried to narrow it down. Location- Alum Creek Beach Phot ..read more

There is something to be said about a collection of art. It tells a story, makes you think and gives a sense of nostalgia, that comfortable lived in feeling. In my opinion Lauren Liess is the queen of curating perfect gallery walls. She seems to effortlessly mix together all the right pieces - whether it be a large scale or a group of just four. It draws you in and allows you to think about each images history and gives you the freedom to create a story. Acquiring real art takes time and money! There is something to be said about collecting art that truly speaks to you or has some sort of mean ..read more

There are always flowers for those who want to see them Happy Spring and Happy April! So glad to be here in this new season, this fresh beginning. I love spring, a time for cleansing and starting new, a time for growth and great change. Everything starts to turn green, the days are becoming longer and the sun is shinning more! There is so much to be grateful for and so much to do in this season. Our plates are very full with the building project but one thing Brandon and I promised each other during this "busy" season, we always want to put our family first. Creating a balanced life is hard, t ..read more

- find joy in all that you do - Its AUGUST! The Sunday of summer This month tends to be long slow sun drenched days, never a very full calendar, and that last taste of summer. It feels like the Sunday of summer, the last hoorah. A month to slow down, soak it up and enjoy the last moments of this season. On the radar this month: 4th National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day (you know I love to celebrate these corny days) 20th Pataskala Street Fair | our big pool party cook out! - I want to make homemade cinnamon rolls here is the recipe I thought about trying - Christmas in August at Granville Brewin ..read more
