Corbin Burnes pitched well once again, but the O’s offense had a horrific night against Luis Gil and the Yankees bullpen.
A putrid showing from the Orioles offense wasted a nice outing from ace Corbin Burnes and the team’s bullpen on Wednesday night at Camden Yards. The O’s had maybe one real shot at scoring runs but ultimately came up empty in the 2-0 loss to the visiting Yankees, their first shutout loss of the season.
Burnes came out hot, pitching like the ace that he is. Five of his first six outs were recorded via the strikeout, and he successfully avoi ..read more

This was not one of the anticipated ways for the Orioles to get Means back in the rotation
John Means is officially back with the Orioles. The team had to activate him from the injured list with his rehab assignment wrapped up at its maximum of 30 days. That was expected. Not expected is the move the Orioles made to fit Means onto the roster. Grayson Rodriguez has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Tuesday, with what the team announced as right shoulder inflammation.
For weeks, we’ve all been wondering how the Orioles would ..read more

Gunnar Henderson’s 10 home runs are a big part of what makes him an early MVP favorite. | Photo by Mitchell Layton/Getty Images
It’s a good year to be a great young player in the American League
Until Gunnar Henderson won the Rookie of the Year Award a year ago, it had been more than 30 years since any Orioles player won one of the “big three” BBWAA awards, also including Cy Young (1980, Steve Stone) and MVP (1991, Cal Ripken Jr.) The ROY drought may have been broken, but you know what? It would still be fun to see an Oriole win one of these others some day.
Obviously, the most important droug ..read more

The Orioles ended the month of April in first place despite missing two quality starters. With the duo set to return, how will Bradish and Means bolster the first-place squad?
It’s the first day of May and the Orioles are in sole possession of first place. Baltimore contending hardly qualifies as a surprise after the Birds won the division last season, but the club’s hot start is impressive on multiple levels
This team entered 2024 with high expectations for the first time. The Orioles caught everyone off guard last year, but the young club has everyone in b ..read more

Jackson Holliday, Connor Norby, Coby Mayo and Kyle Stowers all put up big nights in the Tides win while Samuel Basallo played hero in a comeback effort for Bowie,
Triple-A: Norfolk Tides 11, Nashville Sounds (Brewers) 5
The Tides piled on 11 runs on 15 hits as the bats dominated in a win over Nashville. It was all the usual suspects leading the way as the offense put up double digit runs for the first time in 10 days. Jackson Holliday got the TIdes’ first rally started with a one-out single in the top of the third. Connor Norby wasted no ti ..read more

Another win, the bullpen comes up big, and Camden Yards is no longer so welcoming
Good morning, Birdland!
Well, this has been a fun ‘lil series so far, hasn’t it? I mean, my heart rate has reached dangerous levels while simply sitting and “enjoying” a baseball game , but other than that we’re having fun!
Dean Kremer, Keegan Akin, and Jacob Webb held the vaunted New York offense to just two runs in the O’s 4-2 win on Tuesday. Both runs scored on solo home runs. And that was a follow up to Monday, when Grayson Rodriguez led an effort that kept our visitors off ..read more

Kremer was great and the bullpen was impressive as the offense scored four runs without a homer.
Dean Kremer, folks. DEAN KREMER, FOLKS.
The Orioles needed a good start from Kremer tonight and that’s exactly what they got. The beleaguered bullpen needed a break and that’s exactly what they got. Kremer completed seven innings tonight with two runs allowed, outpitching his Yankees counterpart Nestor Cortes. The end result was a 4-2 victory by the Orioles, giving them sole possession of first place in the AL East and guaranteeing at least a series split.

Which Dean Kremer will we see tonight?
After a close game game yesterday where the Orioles prevailed by a 2-0 score, one hopes the Orioles’ bats have a big game in them. The team’s best relief pitchers were used yesterday, so a large run total and a solid performance from starter Dean Kremer would be just what the doctor ordered.
Kremer’s numbers so far this year don’t paint a pretty picture, but he’s had his high points. He’s only had one true disaster and in his last start he struck out 10 batters and allowed just two runs. One big issue with Kremer has bee ..read more

The reigning Rookie of the Year has stepped up his game to start the 2024 season, and is already among the early favorites for AL MVP.
Throughout the opening part of the 2024 season, any highlight of Gunnar Henderson has been met with a common refrain: “There goes the future AL MVP.” We’re officially a month into the season, and so far, the MVP campaign is perfectly on track.
After putting up an extremely forgettable March/April in his rookie season, the Orioles’ star shortstop is on a mission this year to make sure he doesn’t get a reputation as a slow st ..read more

A big win over the Yankees, a lot of pitching questions, and more in today’s Bird Droppings
Happy Tuesday, Camden Chatters! The sun always shines brighter the morning after an Orioles win, especially when that win is over the New York Yankees and results in the Orioles moving back into a tie for first place in the AL East.
After a brutal series against the A’s over the weekend, the Orioles started the week right with an impressive 2-0 win over the Yankees. Grayson Rodriguez was not at his best and he still managed to pitch 5.2 scoreless in ..read more
