When seated, she will become the first woman mayor of Burlington, and the city’s first out LGBTQ+ Mayor. Friends - A lot is at stake over the next week for the thousands of Vermonters at risk of becoming houseless due to the possible expiration of the motel voucher program. We have been inspired by the outpouring of support for the program from Vermonters who are speaking out and creating the political will needed to save the program, and are incredibly proud of our Progressive elected officials who are fighting tooth and nail to save the program and stop the coming humanitarian crisis. Saving the Motel Voucher Program would be a significant win, but we must remember this program is a stop-ga ..read more

The following statement was passed unanimously by the Progressive Party State Committee on Sunday, May 21st, 2023. The Statement opposes the current version of the Vermont State Budget. "The Vermont Progressive Party stands against the current iteration of the state budget for Fiscal Year 2024. A core principle of our platform is that housing is a human right. The current version of the budget would take that away from thousands of homeless Vermonters– pushing them out of temporary housing and onto the streets by removing support currently provided by the General Assistance program. The Vermont Progressive Party
by Joshua Wronski

Friends – Town meeting day elections are right around the corner, and we need people from every walk of life to run for local office in every town if we want to make any progress in our state over the next few years. Unfortunately, it is far too rare for the people who are most directly impacted by rising inflation, high transportation costs, and lack of affordable housing to serve in any elected capacity. A few years ago, Vermont Public compiled data on the types of people who serve in the Vermont Legislature. They found that: “Nearly 40 percent said they were retired or had no other meaningf ..read more
